Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was nice, the school wasn't currently under attack from forces not of this universe and they were still in Iceland. Oh yeah, it was day one of the rest of the newbies' lives.

Welcome to fandom, kiddos. Try not to trip over left over sombreros from Thursday!

[Please wait for OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible.]

Big siblings? Yeah, Stan had mooore than enough of that with Shelley, thank you.

He did put on a name-tag at least. One that called him: Stan: King of N00bs. This is what happened when you allowed a child to play WoW. Do you see?

Now, to find this Chuck guy and see if he was a total lamejob.

Chuck was... quite possibly a lamejob, but he was a lamejob who had played WoW. Did that at least get him points?

The looking at least didn't take him long. Stan narrowed it down considerably, and checking out guy's chests for name tags wasn't nearly so awkward. For some reason.

"Hey! I think you might be the Stan I'm looking for." Unless there were others. He didn't think there would be others...

Laaaamejob. But it was a decent sort of lamejob. At least he wasn't home schooled or something equally lame.

"Chuck?" Stan said, going with a wild guess here.

"Definitely, yes," Chuck confirmed for him. "Well, hey, good. You made it this far, congrats."

"And welcome." He promised, mentally, to try not to start babbling and scare the guy. "I'm supposed to be here to help you get all... acclimatised."

"Where are you here from?" Read: was he likely to get freaked by the things here.

"South Park," Stan replied with a sardonic little grin. "It's by Denver."

"Oh, hey yeah, Denver-- I know where it is?" Not that he'd ever been there. But he somehow felt the need to share that he knew of it. As most people probably did.

"People seem to find this place an adjustment. It's kind of on the weird side. But you'll be fine! I'm sure."

"Any questions or anything, while I'm here?"

"Do we get to use TVs?" It was super important!

"Oh yeah," Chuck assured him easily. A nice simple question! He liked those. "One on every floor, so even if yours isn't free, I'm... ninety-nine percent sure you're allowed to just commandeer another one."

"At least, I have..." So he hoped he was.

"Sweet. What are your feelings on video games?"

"Call of Duty is life."

That about summed up all it needed to, didn't it?

Stan held up a hand for a high five. "This is going to be so sweet."

Chuck grinned widely and did not leave him hanging. Oh, see this sibling thing was such a great idea.

"The ground floor rec room has the best stuff," he shared. "Freaking huge TV and all the consoles. Pizza and gaming, sometime," he decreed. It needed to happen.

"Alex, one of the other new kids, said his dad was shipping his XBox to him next week," Stan replied. "I think we have a plan for the weekend. If we time it right, we could probably play the entire time."

A beat.

"Barring bathroom breaks."
