"Today is your exam," Kerrigan said. They were seated in an ordinary classroom, with ordinary tables and chairs. At the front of the class she stood, looking strong and stoic and perfectly willing to wring a few necks if she had to. "You have the full period to finish it. If you finish early, stay seated until I tell you you can go."

No freebies, kids.

"If you attempt to cheat, I will know. If you attempt to cheat off someone, I will know. If you drift off, I will know, and in all of these cases, I will nail you to the side of the dorms in front of all of your peers."

Don't think she wouldn't. She'd done it twice just when she was human.

"Emma, hand out the exams. Class, sit down, write, and don't think too loud."

Well, you had your orders.

Kerrigan's expression didn't change an inch. "What did you learn?" she asked.

Because frankly, that was more interesting than having Emma sit around her class.

"That they can be immune to some forms of telepathy, and still susceptible to others," she answered. "I can read them and contact them directly, where telepaths from their own world are unable to do so." Eric hadn't come to work last night, so Emma didn't know how he felt about the fact she could see inside his head.

"Also, a fist in the teeth will pretty much drop one, as fangs break."

"Most things break if you hit them hard enough," Kerrigan said, dryly. She had some experience with that. "But that's... interesting. Tell me about your experiences, and I'll excuse the absence."

"I got tangled up in vampiric politics and got to go to a ball," Emma said dryly. "Then the king decided to off the queen and have a coup, and it suddenly got very inhospitable to those of us who are not living-impaired."

"I removed myself from the situation, and then used my powers to locate two vampires who are residents of Fandom, to let them know the other students and I were safe, and where we were."
