Paranormal Activity; April 19th

"Morning everyone. Happy finals week," Alaric said with a smile once everybody came in. "Hope you studied for your test. Or, well, at least showed up to class so you have an inkling what's going on."

Yeah he doubted most people actually studied. Luckily it wasn't really needed if they showed up to class.

"The test is fairly simple so don't get too bent out of shape about it. Relax. Breathe," Alaric said as he passed out the test. "Before you start I want to say that you guys have been a great class and I hope you've learned at least one thing in here. If you didn't learn anything at least pretend you did if I happen to ask."

Bod hadn't studied much but he'd looked over his notes and was now looking over them again just to make sure he was familiar with the material before taking the exam.

Kennedy actually was doing last-minute studying. Figured this would be the class where she'd actually need it, huh?

Almost twelve years studying with her Watcher and you'd think she'd know these things off the top of her head by now, but noooooo. Look, she'd had priorities and they hadn't been knowing all the details about the things she was supposed to stab. Just a billion ways to do the stabbing.

Sigh.

What Kate did probably couldn't even called studying. She eyed her notes for half a minute or so but let's face it, this was a class she'd taken because she'd needed to. She'd been paying enough attention.

1. Depending on the situation, I'd try to ascertain what sort of vampire they were. If they turned out to be a dangerous one that wanted to injure me, I'd probably try to run first. If that didn't work, I'd try to find something sharp to use as a weapon.

Bod didn't exactly like to think of situations like that.

Panic. Wait, no, that wasn't a right answer for a test.

1. The answer would depend on where I was, for I know there are many different types of vampires with equally different temperaments, and not all may be hostile. If he or she were indeed a danger, I would attempt to take their aggression from them or to inform someone who might be better skilled in dealing with such things. Above all I would try not to panic and allow my demon side to come forth.

1. Dealing with a vampire is simple enough. Determining whether the vampire is good or evil is the difficult part. If we assume evil, we protect humans by feeding them vervain and then we stake said vampire with wood. Or magic steel or we just set them on fire if we're talking some weirdo universe.

Note: Have I mentioned how I don't eat people lately?

1. Depends on the world and type of vampire. The friendly kind? Offer him baked goods in exchange for friendship. Unfriendly predator kind? Just running straight away most likely doesn't work, but all the horror movie clichés – garlic, crosses, holy water (you can try blessing it yourself in a pinch) – are worth a shot in incapacitating a vampire. So is kneeing it in the junk groin if it's a male one, or exposing it to a nasty smelling herb (I forget the name but it starts with a V?), although that may be world-specific. All of that may hold it off or slow it down enough for a getaway.

As for killing a vampire, a stake to the heart and decapitation seem to be the most reliable ways, but require a bit of strength.

It was a little sad most of that was actually just personal experience.

1. Drink valerian tea, keep a stake handy, wear a cross, and explain to them why biting my partner is a bad, bad idea, in very polite terms.

Vervain tea and a stake. Assuming they were unfriendly.

1. Probably back away slowly and find someone who knows more about vampires than me to help. But if there wasn't time, and the vampire was attacking someone, I would try to use fire to drive them off. A stake would work too, but I don't think I'm strong enough to actually stake a vampire and I think it would probably kill me if I got too close.

Caroline was well aware that breathing was so much easier once finals were complete. Before the exam, she was a hot mess of flashcards and after she was practically glowing in relief.
