Teamwork 101 - Period 1 [Class #15, FINAL!!] [Monday]

Rikku still had a little bit of exuberance in her air. Spending the weekend as a little kid left her with residual giddiness. Not that that was such an unusual state for her, anyway, but she liked it.

“Okay, guys,” she said. “It’s time for you to report in on your projects. Did you complete them? How much did you raise, and for what charity? What obstacles did you bump into, and how did teamwork help? Of course, Reno and I are gonna go first, becauuuuuuuuuse … we decided to do our own fundraiser, too!”

Which had been a way more impressive idea when they hadn’t realized they were going to be little kids during the scheduled day. Oops?

“It went real well,” Reno said, smirking as he held up the proceeds for the class to look at. A shiny one-dollar bill and a button. “See, we put together a lemonade stand, yo. Went all entrepreneurial for this thing. Sold our lemonade for a nickel a glass, and only charged a little extra for the plastic army man that was floatin’ around in there without an arm.”

It was garnish.

“Our efforts managed to raise over a dollar for …” Rikku frowned. “I wrote it down.” She was now digging out a crayon-scribbled napkin from her leg-pouch, and squinting at the horrible handwriting. “I … don’t know. I don’t think I can read this.”

“Here, lemmie see,” Reno said, reaching for the note. “I speak fluent chickenscratch.” Which came in handy for things like annoying the boss on the paperwork, and reading prescriptions written out by... any doctor ever. “We managed to raise over a dollar for... Kangaroos.”

Huh.

Seriously?” Rikku was going to peer over his shoulder and … nope, that did look like ‘kangaroos.’ If you allowed for spelling. “Um … right! A dollar, for kangaroos. So that just shows you what you can do, if …”

Okay, no, that was going to bother her. “Kangaroos?” she asked. “Were we … like … saving them from something, or … were we going to rent one or …....”

‘Save the Kangaroos’ was a new one, for Rikku.

“Actually,” Reno added, smirking faintly, “I think we wanted to go for rides in their pouches, yo.”

It was a truly noble cause, kids.

“So, whatever you guys got, like we said before, we’ll match before sendin’ off to your charities of choice, yo,” Reno continued, grinning. “For the rest of today, we’re gonna take it easy. Wouldn’t wanna tucker you guys out after a long weekend of gettin’ married and makin’ mudpies, yo. We got our hands on a couple episodes of somethin’ that teaches the real importance of teamwork, and figured we’d just make a class of it, yo.”

He was doing that smirking thing again. Run away.

“It’s the cutest thing ever!!!!” Rikku squeed. She was being sincere. This should also be terrifying, kids. “It’s Weetiny Horsies: Teamwork is Sparkly! It’s the super epic story of how the Princess’s apprentice is sent to Horsieland to … oh, you’ll see! I don’t want to spoil it!!!!!”

Momoko's head was pounding and her stomach was achey, so she was glad to watch a movie. She dreaded the part about explaining their charity work, though.

"We held a... donation booth. For Doctors Without Borders," Squall answered. "And we raised..." he pulled a handful of gold coins out of his pocket and dropped them on the table. "...About thirty gil."

In other words, they hadn't done jack shit, but Squall felt that donating to charity was important.

"..."

Squall raised an eyebrow, looked at his desk, and nodded.

She'd just seen the "donation booth", after all.

"It'll need to be converted into currency they'll accept, anyway," Squall pointed out. "We can count it then."

Besides, it didn't really matter how much was there, just that there was some.

Tahiri was just going to . . . um . . . stare in fascinated horror over here, okay?

Mostly horror, though.

Momoko thought it was cute, but she wondered why the horses all looked so thin! She had an overwhelming urge to feed them... and to go down to the gig and make sure all of those were fed, too.

Squall had endured worse. Squall had endured Selphie. The weetiny horses weren't going to break him.

They were slightly more interesting than staring at the floor, too.

Jason tilted his head as he watched the show. It wasn't quite as horrifying as he'd imagined it would be from the title, but he was still worried he'd be hearing high-pitched voices in his dreams tonight.

Considering Karla's weekend, Weetiny Horsies was pretty much right up her alley as she tried to process things with a brain still hazy from sugar shock.

Mostly she just kept looking at her arms and legs and wondering when the henna was going to fade.

This would be a Chloe. This would be a Chloe boggling at the movie and then wondering why she was boggling. It shouldn't have surprised her.

I oddly enough just watched my first and only episode of the new MLP series Sunday afternoon. And while it's well drawn and well thought out, I cringe at the anorexic ponies like whoah. And Pinkie Pie just scares me. *shivers*
