Teamwork 101 - Period 1 [Class #14] [Monday]
“Welcome back,” Rikku chirped, once everyone had filed in to class. “Okay, first of all? Important update. We did say that your final projects were supposed to be done, for today. But. We understand that the weekend got a liiiiiittle crazy, what with those turtle-ducks and all.”
The ones that totally cheated and could send you to the dorms lobby for so much as touching them. How was that fair!?
“So just because we’re super-nice, we’re going to give you an extra week,” she continued. “Make sure you have them done by next week, and that’ll count as your final. Got it?”
“This week,” Reno tossed in, leaning back against that desk that he was so very fond of leaning against, “we’re gonna do more talkin’, yo. You probably noticed the freaks that were swarmin’ the island over the weekend. Hell, I spent the other night tryin’ to sleep on the couch in the dorm lobby. I noticed. And you probably noticed, too, that the screwed up little monster things that were roamin’ around weren’t that big a deal. Easy to take on solo, right?”
“Until one of them got in a lucky shot,” Rikku grumbled. Yes, she was still ticked about that. “Those little monsters were just the grunts. Simple enough, but there were so many of them wandering around. It would have taken forever to take them out one at a time, and they only had to get lucky once. Talk about strength in numbers. An army of grunts can take on someone way more skilled than they are.”
“Sure, we probably got a crazy amount of hits in before we got taken down, but Rikku an’ I? We still did.” And then Reno had set out again, kicked a turtle-duck square in the rear, and had found himself stuck in the dorms for the rest of the weekend. That had kinda sucked. “So, here’s where I ask you guys how your weekend went? Did you get a chance to show down against a mushroom on the weekend? How long did you last? Do you think you would’a done better if you weren’t out there alone? How about you guys who got to fight the big bad, yo? You were in groups. How’d you guys use teamwork to get you through that funky castle?”
“And then, speaking of groups, go ahead and get in your groups and reschedule,” she said. “Make plans for your final projects. And in the meantime, hey, no matter how involved you were, or weren’t! Nice job saving the day.”
Hey, people didn’t say that enough. And sometimes it deserved to be said, that was all.
