Being a Proper Sea Dog, Friday, Period 3

As was usual, the class met in the Danger Shop, on a simulation of a pirate ship.

Today there was another ship, pressed up next to the pirate vessel. The boarding planks were out, and the vessel the students were on was primed to storm its new, trapped neighbor.

"What we have here, young ladies and gentlemen, is the wonderful time where you need to storm the opposing vessel and claim your wealth and prizes. But! Before one can storm a ship, it is important to know the rules. Now, I'm certain some unruly and bad-form practicing pirate did some awful, awful, awful things to those that they raided. But I, Captain James Hook, cunning kingfish of Neverland, say no to that. There are rules. There is good form. So here are my rules."

He pulled out the handy chalkboard, though this time it was all pre-written, so he did not need a chalk-holder-hand-attachment.

"One, do not stab the unarmed women or children. Self explanatory. Two, only take as much as you can carry and still hold a weapon. Never put down your sword or pistol to grab more loot. That's just asking to get stabbed or shot in the back."

He cleared his throat.

"Three, don't leave their ship sinking. Disabled, certainly, but you might as well leave them alive. After all, once they see the might of piracy, they might become pirates themselves! Four, don't care if they're orphans or not. That doesn't get you anywhere, and just encourages them to lie. Liars deserve to die, not be saved."

He then pointed emphatically at the last rule.

"Rule five. Don't do anything in bad form. We are not that sort of seagoing raiders. Got it? Good."

He pushed the chalkboard off the ship and it splashed as it hit the water.

"So now, I want you to propose rules that you think should be part of the crew's instructions when raiding a fallen ship for goods and treasure. My rules are direct and to the point, but I'm sure you have proposed ideas. Well, now is the time to speak up. And if you don't wish to, instead you can enjoy some root beer. There are kegs on the opposing vessel. Go and claim it, if you want it."

And that was today's class. Chat, or raid a ship for root beer.

[ooc: Plz wait for OCD! Oooopen!]

"Yeah, point," Percy said grudgingly. "You wanna be a hero but you don't wanna be a fool kinda thing. Going out with a bang means hero, going out by getting slaughtered makes you a fool. Tricky line to walk."
