Paranormal Activity, February 8th
The fact that his TV kept playing chick flicks instead of the damn weather channel left Alaric pretty irritated. He so hated romantic comedies. He asked the kids to meet him down at the Danger Shop, which had been transformed into a shooting range.
"Right, so, I think fate or whatever the hell is running this island is telling me I should stick with the Valentine's theme for class today," Alaric said, rubbing his forehead. "So we're going over Cupid."
"Cupid is generally known as the son of Venus and Mars, the goddess and god of love and war, respectively. His Greek name is Eros," Alaric explained. "The most popular mythological story involving Cupid is the one where his mother asked him to put one of his famous love arrows--not what it sounds like--into this girl Psyche in order to make her fall in love with the vilest thing in the world. The plan backfires when Cupid scratches himself with one of his own arrows and makes himself fall in love with Psyche instead. He stalked her for a bit until Jupiter made the girl immortal so she and Cupid could be together forever, which I am sure pissed his mother off."
"Nowadays Cupid is generally found on Valentine's Day cards and is used in lazy writing in popular culture to make people fall in love and then later they can have an excuse to emo once the spell wears off." He really, really hated these romantic movies he was being assaulted with. "Seriously, lazy writing. I have never had experience with Cupid, but if he really exists, I suggest you stay away from his arrows."
"Today for an activity we're gonna play with bows and arrows because that's fun, and I really don't feel like having romance shoved in my face anymore than it already is today," he said. "So go ahead, grab a bow and arrow and hit the target. For those of you who are afraid of using actual arrows, I've provided some of those suction cup ones for you. Have fun. Don't kill your fellow classmates."

Listen to the Lecture
Re: Listen to the Lecture
Maybe he could take some of his mood out with the bow and arrow. It seemed like a better thing to do than taking his books back and arguing with sales clerks.
Re: Listen to the Lecture
She also hated that they were covering Cupid, and thought the story was fricking creepy. The class activity made her perk up a little, though.
Shoot bows and arrows
Re: Shoot bows and arrows
Re: Shoot bows and arrows
Although sometimes hilarious. As at least half a dozen canon episodes demonstrated. But whatever; she didn't really care about dwelling on that, because she got to shoot things today. So yeah, she took her sweet-ass time going through the equipment for a bow and some arrows (real ones, thanks) to her liking, then went off to put as many arrows into the target as she could. Which was most of them; she was good, but not as good as she was with her crossbow.
Re: Shoot bows and arrows
Not that she was very good at using the bow, but she actually looked pretty determined to try and figure it out.

Re: Shoot bows and arrows
That wouldn't do.
So... shooting things. Even pretend things.
