East Asian history - First Class Meeting

East Asian History
MTTh 6:00-8:00 pm

Course description: A specific emphasis on the history of China, Japan, Korea and India spanning approximately from 710 to 1900’s

Grade Evaluation:
• Class participation 50%
• Written assignments 15%
• Exams 35%

Course Text: TBD

For this session, check in and general discussion. Small as we are gives greater leeway in what material we cover during the course of the class. Structure can be loosened in favor of deeper analysis of specific interests.

Do you have a preferred era you wish to examine closer? Will you prefer to narrow the focus further to concentrate on one or two countries?

(Latecomers - Sign up still open.)

I know the era in which I lived quite well, sensei, but I do desire to know more about ancient Japan.

Well, I do not know too much about this history, but I would like to focus on India and China if possible.

Oh, hey. Just signed up for this because, you know, everybody takes regular history. Why not be different, right?

And I'm not picky about what to study, but China's kind of a personal preference. Oh, and I'll bet India would be interesting.

Phoebe sits in a desk near the door.

"I'd like to learn more about Japan and it's culture."
