George was going to wait until everyone was there, and then give it another five or ten minutes for good measure. Just in case maybe someone else wanted to fucking talk for once.

"Fine," she said. "Great. It's Apathy Club. I started it last fucking semester by accident, trying to get detention, and somehow instead I had to run a stupid fucking Apathy Club. Who knows how it got carried over, but here we are. So, welcome to fucking Apathy Club."

Okay, technically, she'd resubmitted the forms, but not even a gun to her head would get her to admit that one.

"Those of you who were here before, you have no excuse, and I don't know what the fuck is wrong with you for coming back. Those of you weren't, you still signed up for something called fucking Apathy Club, so I don't know what's wrong with you, either. There aren't fucking activities. We don't go on exciting trips here. Whatever the fuck you think you're getting into, it's way lamer than that, and it's your own damn fault for signing up."

She waved a hand. "I dunno. If you want to be fucking lame and introduce yourself, go ahead. I'm George, that's my introduction, and I don't give a fuck who you are."

She slumped back in her chair. "I hate this fucking club."

Rosalind arched an eyebrow.

This was more than a little ridiculous. She already knew most everyone in the club. Why should she--

"Rosalind," she said shortly.

And if they wanted anything else, they could ask.

George gave Rosalind a crisp nod. The kind that said that it was nice to see Rosalind again, but in the very apathetic sort of way the club suggested.

"Alex Karev," he said and gave a little wave. "Hi."

Sure, it was longer than Rosalind's but he wanted to be different.

"Hey," George said. "We don't ... fucking ... do much."

Just felt like she should warn him, that was all.

In case the name 'Apathy Club' wasn't a huge tip-off.

"I wasn't looking to make macaroni art or a clay ashtray," he replied, shrugging. "I do enough elsewhere. I don't need to fucking do anything here. Works just fine for me."

Oh, he'd fit in just fine.

"We mostly bitch and moan about how fucking stupid this club is," George explained. "Or we glare at each other until it's time to go."

It counted as socializing, if you were horrifically anti-social. Which most of them were.

"Hi?" she echoed, a bit mockingly.

'Hi' was a little beneath him, really, so far as she was concerned.

"What's wrong with hi?" he asked, glancing over at her. "Would you prefer hello? Howdy? Heya? Bonjour? Ciao?'

"It doesn't suit you," she said loftily. "Trying to be approachable."

Because she, clearly, was a paragon of approachability.

Squall frowned at him, but waved back anyway.

"Ramona," she said, tossing off a little salute before shoving her hands into her pockets.

Kay, so, George wasn't going to be all Chatty Cathy here, but some things need to be said.

"You have cool hair."

That was one of them.

Rosalind gave the other girl a sidelong glance and a nod.

Squall saluted back, out of habit.

"Squall," Squall announced. With a little wave or whatever.

"I'm glad the club is back," he admitted.

Yeah. This was George, staring at Squall.

"... why?" she asked. Never mind that she'd missed it, too. At least she wasn't about to go admitting it. "What the fuck got into you, anyway?"

He looked all ... cheerful. At least, compared to his usual.

"Just 'cause," Squall answered. "You guys understand me. Does there have to be another reason?"

Effy... wasn't doing an introduction, just tipped her head and smirked.

If she didn't have to introduce herself, she wasn't going to.

George nodded back at her, appreciating the "nah, not gonna bother" approach.

It was apathy club, after all.

"Jack," he said when it was his turn. He couldn't help but look a little amused by this whole thing.

"What's so funny?" George asked, giving him a suspicious look.

"Introducing ourselves seems like a lot of effort."
