"You all made it without getting arrested. Congratulations," Bruce said. They were standing on the roof of the Trooper Station, after all. Depending on how they got up here, it was possible that they had either committed a crime or annoyed Sam Vimes, which was nearly the same thing. "If you want, you can consider this group to be a think tank intent on looking into some of Fandom's more notable quirks. I also intend to have us do some more mundane investigations including, if the opportunity arises, some crime scene visits courtesy of our club sponsor, Sherlock Holmes. You may know him from class or by reputation. Either way, you know what you're in for if we do get to visit a crime scene."

"Let's keep it relatively light for this week. I have some specific ideas in mind for what I want this group to do before the end of the semester. I want some input into what you might want to do or experience," Bruce said. "Whether that's a specific mystery you want to look into, or just a general focus you want the club to take, speak up."

Exceedingly thrilled. You could tell by the way he was glued to his phone.

There was a group of kids on the roof having a so-called investigation club meeting. If that wasn't a good excuse to get out of doing some paperwork, Angua didn't know what was.

Besides, it was more interesting that listening to Vimes' grumbling about it.

Coffee in hand, she sidled up beside Holmes and had to ask, "Whose idea was it to have it up on the roof? The kids because they thought they were being creative, or you because hoped one of them might fall?"

"The fall wouldn't even kill them," Sherlock replied, only glancing up once.

"Exactly," Angua said. "At this point, a student death would just be messy."

"Mostly for you."

Sherlock, stop loving your students. Seriously.

"I'm pretty sure Vimes would get to deal with that one," Angua said, followed by a thoughtful sip from her cup.

"You want any coffee?"

Vimes would arrest Sherlock just because he could. And it would be glorious for him.

Sherlock wouldn't bother reacting because he was a dick like that. "Black, three sugars."

Angua nodded and went back inside, returning a few minutes later with a mug that she handed over to him. If he could stand to release one of his hands from his phone.

"But seriously, the trooper station roof?"

"The students picked it," Sherlock finally said, taking his coffee. "I think they were trying to be clever."

Damn it, Bruce.

"Probably beats just a classroom," Angua reasoned, "and it'll get nicer, weather-wise, as spring gets closer."

"If there were any actual crime, it would be perfect." Now run along and commit a crime, Angua.

"Oh, yes, because if, let's say, hell freezes over and this town actually gets some crime that isn't stupid and being committed by the students, the first thing we'll doing is contacting the Investigation Club to help us out."

"Of course not," Sherlock replied. "I'll have already solved it by then."

So, so modest.

Angua snorted. "Aw, I'm surprised I didn't see it sooner! The reason we haven't had anything to do is because you keep solving them before they can even happen, Holmes. It's so obvious now."

"And yet I'm still so very bored here. Fancy that."
