Student Council | Friday Lunchtime

"Welcome back, teens, troublemakers, and el presidente!" Barney greeted his council with pizza, soda, and his well-polished loafers on the boardroom table. "Now that clubs have resumed, it's time for you to get up off your asses and make some decisions. We're a few weeks away from that floral nightmare known as Valentine's Day and will be having our annual Desperation Day Dance, since the real holiday isn't until Monday. Make sense? Yeah, I don't get it either. So, we need a theme and people to decorate. I suggest 'A Very Fandom Burlesque!'"

Ready or not, Student Council was in session!

"Are the singles really gonna wanna be surrounded by tons of flowers?" Alex wondered.

Ino sipped her soda.

"And you think they'd be happier with hearts on the walls?"

"Well, maybe if a few of them had arrows jammed through them," Alex said but it was pretty clear he was joking. "I don't mind flowers as long as they're not all pink. I don't want to have nightmares about pink flowers coming to life and choking me out."

"They're coming for you!" she teased, leaning back in her chair. "And why stick with pink? We could have purples and yellows and reds and oranges..."

"Maybe everyone gets a flower when they arrive?" Alex suggested. "It could be easily pinned or worn in a pocket so no one has to hold onto them the whole time but it might be a nice gift for those that don't get them."

"I like that," she said thoughtfully. "And we could have a variety of flowers so that not everyone has the same colour."

"Which means I can get something not pink," he joked, snickering. "They'd probably make the place smell good too. If there's enough flowers, we won't smell the random person that forgets their deodorant or sweats through their suit."

"I'm good with flowers," Quinn said. Flowers, Valentine's Day ... it all sort of went together in a no-brainer way to her. "Can we do garlands or something on the food tables? And maybe something special for people who don't have dates."

Which might just include Quinn unless she asked somebody. Sigh.

Ino nibbled on her lower lip. "Maybe we could do something that's romantic but not so... in your face, about Valentine's?"

"We should make sure to have several times when people dance with their friends," Wesley mused. "And in terms of the flowers, we should try to stick to neutral colors. Yellow and white more than red and pink, probably."

"And no carnations, if possible," Rilla said, wrinkling up her nose. "They'll smell terrible in large quantities."

Someone was a flower snob...

"Roses are quite nice in that respect, aren't they?" asked Alexander, who knew nothing about flowers at all except as a means for a spell and that roses were terribly romantic...

"They are," Wes agreed. He was similarly uneducated about flowers.

"So as far as colors go, we might go for a yellow and white theme? And that has a sort of spring-like quality to it, which would work well as an overall theme."

Not that it was spring yet. Wishful thinking?

"We might ask for advice from the flower shop," Rilla suggested.
