Adventures, Capers and Escapes - Danger Shop, Thursday, Period 3

Oh, look who'd decided to show up today. The Doctor was indeed present and accounted for and wearing a tuxedo. He even had a dashing white scarf draped over his shoulders. This didn't bode well for anyone not comfortable in formal attire.

"Hello! I promise I won't leave Cara in charge any more." That was really all that needed to be said about that. "Today we're going have a dinner party, which can be an adventure, can involve capers and often results in a much-needed escape when you find yourself suddenly engaged to be married and need to get out of there before you become Mr. Marilyn Monroe, because she couldn't be Mrs. The Doctor, because that sounds stupid.

There are change rooms over there with plenty of fancy clothes to dress up in. Try to get into the spirit of things. The better you dress to the occasion, the less likely you are to be noticed unless you want to be noticed." He always wanted to be noticed. Get dressed, enjoy your fake dinner and try not to turn this into one of those murder mystery nights. They're only fun when you're not the victim or the prime suspect. Okay, they're still fun when you're the prime suspect, but that's not programmed in today. The idea is to mingle. Get a feel for your surroundings. Act like you belong. Practice."

There was a hint of things to come if ever there was one.

"I'll be over by the nibblies!"

Was it sad that none of this seemed all that out of the ordinary to a girl from several millennia ago? Probably.

Did it seem less weird if you took into account that Gabrielle had had to pose as rich patrons and other kinds of fancily-dressed characters on multiple occasions, been backstage at the very first Miss Known World beauty pageant, and oh, yeah, been made over by the ancient world's version of Tim Gunn in preparation for being married off to a dead king at one point --

Probably not. Never mind then.

Okay, let's stick to how she'd been in a couple of plays in Fandom; that was a nice, non-brainbreaky rationale for how very much the changing room, and the process of picking out an outfit and putting it on, didn't seem to phase her in the slightest.
