Science Club Meeting, After Classes, Monday 1/24

The science club would be meeting in one of the labs this semester. Please try not to blow anything up. Unless that was the point of the experiment.

"Good afternoon," said Spock. "This club is for the exploration of scientific interests. Professor Rikku has kindly agreed to be our faculty adviser for the semester, and we should all thank her." Even if she was kind of crazy, as far as Spock could tell. "I am Spock. I have not had experience running something of this nature, but I thought today it would be appropriate to discuss our background and interest in the sciences, and what we hope to accomplish over the course of the semester. I trust that will be agreeable." If it wasn't, he didn't have any other ideas.

"I intend to make a career in the sciences, though my interests are wide-ranging and I have not yet begun to decide on specialization," Spock said. "I am open to suggestions for activities for this club." Please.

Prince Alexander of Davventry

"My name is Prince Alexander of Daventry," Alexander offered when it came to be his time to introduce himself, though he did so quite sheepishly. "I'm afraid I can't make many suggestions on what to do for the club; I myself am quite new to the sciences, but I've found them to be quite interesting. We are not as scientifically advanced in my own country, so it seems quite valuable to bring back with me when I am finished here."

And he figured that was a much better explanation than pointing out how science was an awful lot like magic in his world, and, because of that, his mother didn't let him take any science classes...

William Murdoch

"Hello, all. My name is William Murdoch and, well, although the teachers at my former school did their best to make sure we all had a fairly well-rounded education, my scientific knowledge has been largely self-taught up to this point. I've always been especially interested in invention and innovation, but I've also recently discovered forensics, a field which I find utterly fascinating."

Claudia Donovan

"Claudia Donovan," said Claudia. "Physicist. I've been messing with stuff since I was little, and I'm pretty good with computers and some chemistry, as well."

Dana Scully

"Dana Scully, I intend to become a forensic pathologist, so most of my interests are in medical areas, although I also happen to have a fondness for physics." She paused, considering. "Claudia and I built a trebuchet last summer, but I'm sure we could build some bigger defensive weapon in case of invasions here. Or possibly other alternatives. That don't involve boiling oil off the roof of the dorms."

Hmmmm... "Although that is an idea."

*gives ice cream*

Scully smiled at William, and said, "You know, I'm looking into analyzing the different healing potions and poisons around on the island. I've been wanting to capture a gremlin since I got here."

Yes. This would end well.
