Getting Out of Tight Situations- Period 5- Class #2

Class was in the Danger Shop today, where the students would find themselves in a replica of an empty common room. Jaina was sitting in one of the chairs, gesturing to the rest of the furniture, or the floor, or whatever. "Find a seat, make yourself comfortable, because I might make you slightly paranoid for the rest of the period," she greeted them. And she was just going to hope she hadn't left any messages for her students on Friday. "We're going to be here in the Danger Shop for most of our classes, since we start simulations this week. This one shouldn't be a problem, but know that if there's anything in this class that you're not comfortable with for any reason, let me know and we'll figure something out. I'm not trying to traumatize anyone for a grade. And from here and out, Bruce is the TA for this class, so if you need help or anything and you don't want to come to me, he's your guy."

"So by now, even the new kids should have at least seen a common room like this. You hang out, you watch TV, you rummage around for something to eat if someone hasn't ordered a dozen pizzas for everyone. Nothing abnormal about that." And on cue, a little green gremlin hopped up onto the arm of Jaina's chair, just watching the class. You better believe she'd programmed that thing to pay absolutely no attention to her. "This is a gremlin. Also not abnormal for Fandom. For those of you who don't know, they're not the most pleasant of creatures, seeing as how they like to steal your things, or sometimes they'll just randomly see your exposed skin and decide to make with the chompy chompy. And besides the 'ouch' factor that comes with something biting you, but their venom tends to cause hallucinations that make you believe you are, in fact, something else. And then you do things like trampy girl group acts in common rooms just like this one or give concerts in the park that lead you with bruises."

Um. Not that Jaina still had issues or anything.

"Anyway, for today's class, you can either work alone or in pairs, if that's more your thing. For the purpose of this scenario, this is the only common room available to you, and yes, you have to use it," she told them. At some point, this gremlin will pop out from somewhere or another, and you have to decide what to do about it. If you're wondering, if the gremlin is definitely going to bite you, the simulation will simply end and your turn will be up." The gremlin on the chair hopped onto the floor to scurry off for parts unknown, and Jaina stood. "Have fun with that."

Gremlin bites were generally more Ben's thing, but you never knew when it came in handy to pay attention. On the other hand, it reminded Ender uncomfortably of the gremlin bite that had nearly left him breaking Temari's friend's arm over a year and change ago.

But he shook that off, and paid attention.

Somehow, Alex had managed to avoid getting bit by a gremlin since coming to Fandom three years ago. She wasn't exactly sure how that had happened but she felt lucky.

She listened to Jaina's lecture and wondered if her luck had run out. It was her senior year after all...

Yeah, every time gremlins got brought up, Bobby was so, so glad he'd managed to avoid that fate so far. Of course, he was also glad this class was a simulation, because he was a bit reluctant to use his usual defense in front of a classroom full of people.

Oh, Stephanie did not want to know what would happen if she got bitten by a gremlin. She really, really didn't.

She did, on the other hand, think it might not be a bad idea to pay attention; venom that made people act strangely sounded a lot like the kind of thing that would appeal to Gotham criminals over and over and over again, and maybe there wasn't an antidote for it yet, and that seemed like the kind of thing Batman would be interested in, right?

Totally taking notes here.

When she had been told that Fandom was not all fun and games, she hadn't imagined there would be something like...yeah.

Gremlins better not came too close to her.

Gremlins. He had heard about the little beasts, and had been fortunate to keep his knowledge theoretical instead of first-hand.

He fully intended to keep it that way.

Bruce had been bitten before. He was determined to make sure it never happened again. So yes, he was appreciating the opportunity to practice defensive tactics.

James waited for his turn, idly scratching the back of his neck.

Fortunately, Bruce had just been discussing defensive strategies against gremlins in a common room the other day. No, really, the conversation had been played out and everything. So he was ready for a class like this one.

He was around to give advice based on that discussion.
