Today's class was the only one that wouldn't take place in the Danger Shop so hopefully the students enjoyed their one week of relaxation. The next several months would be intense but fun, hopefully.

"Good morning," he said, smiling at the assembled class. "I'm Constable Benton Fraser and this is Extreme Physical Education. I hope you're all in the right class. The aim of this particular class is to allow students to get exercise outside the normal parameters of a physical education class. To do this, we'll be utilizing the Danger Shop quite often to take you to more demanding and intense environments and letting you experience different sports that you can't typically experience on our island. For this class, please wear comfortable clothes and be prepared to work hard. The activities are going to be physically demanding but exhilarating. Just to give you a brief taste, we'll be covering kayaking, hiking, rock climbing, dogsledding, sandboarding and many others. Along with getting exercise, this class should expose some of you to sports that you may have never heard of before. Perhaps this will lead to new hobbies for some of you."

Again, Fraser hoped that would be true.

"Today though, we're going to do introductions just so I can learn more about you and you can learn more about me. We're a small class and I hope this helps us all get to know each other a little better so we can help each other out during some of our future lessons. So, please tell me your name, your age, and the most extreme sport you've ever competed in. My name is Benton Fraser and I'm quite older than all of you. The most extreme sport I've ever competed in wasn't competitive. A few years back, my partner, Ray Kowalski and I, set off to find the Hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea using only one dog and a sled. Conditions were frigid and unforgiving but the journey was spectacular."

He smiled, clearly nostalgic for a few moments. Then, he leaned against the desk and nodded at the class.

"Now, it's your turn. Go ahead."

Juliet Darling ~~because shopping is a sport~~

Juliet looked more than a bit perturbed as Fraser went through what this class would actually involve. Falling down and getting dirty really wasn't what she did for fun.

"Hi, I'm Juliet Darling," Juliet said, as graciously as she could manage. "I'm sixteen. It's not exactly a sport, but the most extreme physical situation I've ever been in was a sample sale at Barney's. I found the last pair of Blahniks in my size and some horrible woman tried to grab them from me."

Prince Alexander of Daventry

"Hello, Miss Darling. Welcome to the class," he said, giving her a nod. He was actually prepared for hearing stories about 'sports' such as shopping and talking and the like. "And while I'm not exactly sure what a pair of Blahniks are, it does sound like a rather vicious situation. What did you do when she tried to grab them?"

"They were these really cute kelly green spectator pumps with leopard print on the heel and toe," Juliet explained, because clearly Fraser was the type to appreciate the information. "I was younger and faster, so I just pretended I didn't see her and scooted to the register. They looked better on me anyhow."

Alexander was certainly on the excited side; if one looked closely, they might also note that he appeared to be slightly bouncing. Now, this was a class! With a bright and eager grin on his face, his eyes danced to his other classmates to see if they were as thrilled as he to really get the chance to get out and do some fun activities like those mentioned.

"So, you were successful in your endeavor," he gathered, nodding. "Good for you. Those probably won't be the best type of shoe for this class but I can appreciate you outwitting your opponent so well."

"Thank you," Juliet beamed. It wasn't often she got praised for being smart, so she savored it when it came.

"My name is Prince Alexander of Daventry," Alexander offered with a bit of a nod, because of course Fraser knew that, but the others in the class might not. "I am just recently seventeen years old," which was said with quite a bit of pride, really, "and the most extreme sport I've ever competed in would have to be fencing, but I feel that fencing is quite light in comparison to the physical challenges I have been faced with on an every day basis throughout my life. I can hardly complain, though; I find there are few things in life quite as satisfying as pulling through complicated odds, pushed to the limit, and coming out victorious."

Alexander really was a young kindred spirit because Fraser couldn't think of a better sort of philosophy for life in general.

"Fencing is something I've yet to try," he shared. "I don't know if I'd be coordinated enough because there seem to be some very complicated logistics involved. Still, life is indeed one of the most perilous sports we all take part in. Getting through that is, oftentimes, a struggle. I admire your philosophy on that."

Makita

"Makita, seventeen, and I'm a former Olympic gymnast for the United Republics of the Red Star," she said, taking pride in her skill, despite having used it for the State for so long. "Someday I hope to compete again for my home country of Nokgorka."

"A gymnast?" Fraser repeated, impressed. "What events, if I may ask?"

The compliment had Alexander going a little bashful for a moment, with an embarrassed sort of smile and a duck to his head. He just barely kept himself from rubbing the back of his neck. "Thank you," he said. "I agree wholeheartedly, and I am glad that, now, I do have the time for sport, such as fencing, rather than embarking on rock climbing for survival. It's rather fun, fencing, though it can be frustrating at times..."

Mostly when you were being bested by your sister, but Alexander would keep that part of himself.

"Uneven bars, balance beam, and vault are my favorites," Makita replied happily, thrilled to share her sport with people. "I'm good at floor, too, although I always hated twirling ribbons." Ick.

"Much to the amusement of my coaches, I also insisted on training on the men's parallel bars. I currently put my training to use with what you people call pa-parkour," she continued, stumbling over the word with her accent.

"I promise, all activities in this class will be for fun and not fur survival though some might be dangerous if done in a non simulation setting."

Though, that could be said for anything, really.

"Hopefully any frustrations in this class will be used to better learn and enjoy the lessons. I hope that, at least."

"Oh, you've taken to parkour?" Fraser asked, again interested. "That's not something I've ever tried but I can see how a gymnast's background would help with that. Have you found the transition easy?"

...NOW THAT SONG IS IN MY HEAD.

"Mmmm. It's easy to let instinct make the leap when you're being shot at," Makita replied, still cheerful. "My country is under siege, so I use my skills as a runner and scout, moving supplies."
