It wast he last day of class and Fraser looked relaxed while waiting for the class to assemble. They were in the Danger Shop today to wind things down.

"Welcome back. I'm glad to see you all made it through the unpleasantness of last week," he started, "and I'm sorry to have canceled class but it seemed to be the smart thing to do at the time. Today, we're supposed to have a final."

He smiled and pushed away from the desk.

"This class though doesn't really lend itself well to finals," he continued. "It's based quite heavily in opinions and perceptions. Therefore, we're not going to have a final. Instead, you're going to explore...Canada!"

Well, it had to be done.

"Considering the name of this class, I thought it fitting to end the class with this. Today, we're in the Thelon Wildlife Sanctuary. It's cold so make sure you suit up in the provided jackets, gloves and hats but, once you're all set, feel free to look around and enjoy the natural brilliance of one of my favorite places in the Northwest Territories."

With that, Fraser got the sim going and let the students enjoy themselves.

Hinata glanced around--she was willing to go with a partner, though if no one wished to she was just as content to go without--and decided that waiting a minute or two would not hurt her.

After that, she'd head out.

"Hinata!" Karla grinned at her friend. "Want to explore together?"

"Hello Karla," she said, smiling lightly. "Are you quite sure you'd want to go with me?"

"Quite and very," Karla said with a nod. "So long as you'd like to go exploring with me."

Hinata pursed her lips, eyes bright as she pretended to think about that.

"I suppose," she said slowly. "That I could. As a favour to you, you understand."

"You are too kind, Hinata," Karla said with a laugh. "I might get dreadfully lost or lonely without you, so I appreciate the favor."

It would probably remind Hinata of going for a walk with Yei, complete with pouncings and random pauses to try to find something to eat.

Oh, most probably.

It was a good thing that Hinata was quite content to walk with Yei.

"You? Lonely?" Hinata's smile was soft. "You've friends enough in this class to stave that off for the hour."

She'd not go so far as to say Karla would never be lonely, but in the span of the class... it was unlikely.

"True enough," Karla said with a small smile, "but what if I'd had my hopes pinned entirely on you?"

Hinata considered that smile for a moment then answered, rather more seriously than the question required: "Then I would be quite honoured," she murmured, and shook her head.

"Which way would you like to go first?"

"I hope that honor lasts past the first impromptu snowball fight," Karla said with a slight chuckle. She glanced around and then pointed. "Let's go that way," she said. "I'd like to see a polar bear, if we can."

From a respectable distance.

"If it comes after us," she mused, heading down that direction. "I th-think I can outrun you."

She was teasing! Teasing!

"You probably can. Which is why if it comes after us," Karla said, laughing, "I plan to cheat. Or just let you explain to your roommate why you let his girlfriend get eaten by a polar bear."

"How would you cheat?" she asked curiously. "And I… I would lie. I was nowhere near you when the bears came."

"Hinata! I'm so shocked!" That would probably have been more believable if Karla hadn't had to stop and lean against a tree and laugh. "I never would have believed it if I hadn't heard it with my own ears."

A few minutes later, Karla was able to walk again, even if she was still wheezing chuckles. "I'd use Craft to knock you down," she answered loftily. "And then run right by you. Or make it so the bear though I was a little baby bear and no harm to anyone."

Or use Craft to get both of them away safely, but where was the hilarity in that?

"It's a most peculiar mood of mine," she murmured, amused enough as she watched Karla laugh. And as they started walking, "You look absolutely nothing like a baby bear, Karla. That would be quite--entertaining."

"I could try very hard," Karla said with a nod. "They're just roly-poly balls of fur, right? I'd make cute little snuffling noises and toddle around and the mama bear would never know the difference."

This was a horrible plan.

"And use lots of Craft, of course."

Still a horrible plan.

Rilla finally felt like herself, bundled up so warmly. It didn't get this cold on PEI, but then, there was no chance of seeing a moose there either. Rilla held out hope that today might change her mooseless life.

Even with all of the bundling, Spock was quite cold. Stupid Earth weather.
