Food Appreciation [Week 15, Period 4, Mon. 12/12]

Sleeping in had helped with the hangover John was feeling after the night before, but now he was in class and staring at his assembled class for the last time. He could use an aspirin.

"Well, I hear Fandom beat you up and spit you back out. But it's Monday, so we can pretend things are normal and that everyone felt like rolling out of bed for class, right? Right!" John walked over to a table with a massive spread of freshly baked sugar cookies and bowls of sprinkles, icing, and food coloring. "So, since this is finals week and it's nearing those favored winter holidays and we're in food class to top it off, I'm having you guys decorate your own sugar cookies. Who doesn't like sugar? The correct answer is 'no one worth hanging out with.' So I bought up a bunch of cookies and you're each decorating a dozen. Happy holidays, and try not to break yourselves over the New Year, okay?"

Ohhhh, he did not give an artist free reign with cookie decorating. Jane was going to get a bunch of cookies of all different shapes, arranging them into a mosaic that would get doused in so much sugar and colored icing that looking at it would instantly give you diabetes.

In the end, it'd be too pretty to eat, which would be a shame. Unless you didn't want to keep your teeth, anyway.

Ah, Fandom finals. Kate was more than happy to be decorating cookies, and they actually turned out looking pretty artistic, with their swirls of color.

The only hard thing about this was keeping herself from just eating the cookies.

Alex...was not a baker at all but even he managed to make the cookies look somewhat decent. They were just a little messy and heavy on the chocolate stuff.

Helen set right to decorating. It was good to have something to focus on even if it was something as simple as this.

Ariel was definitely not much of a baker, no, but she was quite an artiste if she put her mind to it, so she was meticulously working on trying to make all sorts of sea-themed cookies (because it was fun) and a few that looked like the friends she made over the week. She hoped that, where ever they were, they were alright...

...and then she realized the problem with making cookies that made you think of friends, because then, once you finished, you realized that you didn't exactly want to nibble on them...

Whoops.

Time to make some cookies that looked like actual cookies now.

Yeah, Bobby was grateful that his first class of the week was the one that didn't require too much thought. Because let's face it, focus was never really his strong point, and after a week like last week... yeah, it was nice to just have something fun to do.

Momoko carried a few extra cookies over to Bobby's area and grinned at him. "Hey! Welcome back! How are you feeling?"

"I'm okay," he answered, and it was mostly true. He was okay so long as he didn't think too much about how it had felt when he was in Jareth's castle. "Goblins weren't exactly big on cookies, so this is definitely an improvement."

"I've never been kidnapped by goblins, but one time I was kidnapped they fed us nothing but nasty fruit roll-ups." She nibbled on a cookie. "You really okay? If you need to talk or anything, I'll totally listen. It's never been a whole week, but I totally understand being taken away?"
longislandiceme: (thinking)

Re: Food [F15]

[personal profile] longislandiceme 2010-12-14 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, this was definitely a first," usually when he was kidnapped it was by crazy Norse gods. Or evil mutant supervillains... or that one time when it was a sentient island....

"It's nice knowing there'll always be people who'll come get me when stuff like that happens, you know?" he added, after a moment.
heromaniac: (smile innocent)

"There are even some of us who try and can't make it," she poked at him with the pointy bit of a half-eaten star cookie. He was being a silly head; of course people would try to get him. "But yeah, it's totally an awesome feeling to know that. To know it, not just to think it."

Especially when you're feeling helpless because, hey, you were supposed to be doing the heroing. Not that he'd know anything about that, of course.

Oh not at allllll. Being the rescuee had been... weird. He was used to busting himself out of hostage situations.

"Next time I'll settle for someone coming to pick me up when my car gets a flat tire," Bobby replied with a smirk. "...Not that we have cars here. Which is why it'll be a big deal, because I'll probably be in New York or something." If he ever went home again, anyway.
heromaniac: (eating uhm?)

"Why would it be a big deal to be in New York?" She knew why it would be for her, since it probably meant she was lost again. "It's a nice city!"

"Well that's totally true. Even flying, it took a while to get there. Not that I was really noticing since I didn't mean to." La la la. "But it was really nice to visit! It reminded me of Tokyo City a little, except it was totally dirtier. And the people were so busy! But the food carts were tasty!"

Peter officially read too much.
