At the front desk, Sarah is randomly smacking any frog that comes near her with the hammer Lorelei gave her. Occasionally, she leans over as if a thought has struck her and scribbles something down in her notes with a triumphant smile.

"Not... me exactly," Angelus grimaced. "I'm not saying those were proud years, but at least I got over it."

Nothing. Just enjoying the mental image of her in Dom gear spanking you for being a naughty boy.

"Ah," Duce says, not without sympathy, "So you really weren't in your right mind then. Cuz that?" She gestures to the woman in the picture, "Worth keeping around, if for the sheer pretty factor alone."

Regarding the picture, Duce asks curiously, "Is she still around, or is she.. ah.. a really old girlfriend?"

"Looks, brains," Angelus admired the picture in front of him. "The whole package. Plus she made me the man I am today, in every possible meaning of that phrase.

"And she's both. Still around and a really old girlfriend. Though," he grinned, "far be it from me to disclose the true age of a lady."

"She wears it well," Duce acknowledges, noting Angelus didn't use the word 'gentleman' in that phrase with a slight smirk. Whether he'd meant to infer he was, or was not, one couldn't quite tell, and Duce enjoyed the irony. "So.. bake sale, huh?"

"Yup," Angelus resumed sketching as he spoke. "Doing our part for the school, like the good students we are."

Nodding with complete aplomb, "So it's a school fundraiser and not a JA fundraiser? Think we were confused about that. We thought it was to raise money for.. oh.. some sort of JA field trip or project or something. Got a menu for it?" Are any students on the menu? If so, can we watch?

"It's JA," Angelus said as he started shading in contours. "We do have our little pet projects after all. As for the menu, gosh - snickerdoodles, Rice Krispie treats, you name it. All the wholesome goodness that we're dying for our fellow students to eat." No, but give us a few weeks and there will be that fashion show

Lips curling in amusement, "No crow on the menu? There's a few that could do with a heaping helping of that, or maybe humble pie. All the sweetness around here is causing our pancreas to have fits - which says something, since we're not even sure we havea pancreas." Yay!

"Lord, don't I know it," Angelus said. "There's something about - " he made an expression of distaste " - human displays of love that makes me want to yorf up today's B positive. A vamp can only take so much."

Her willpower a marvel of epic proportions, Duce absolutely does not go gooeyloveydovey all over Angelus. Because if he barfed, he might mess up the picture or screw up a line or something else, and that would be sad.

"They can serve their purpose, but ye bellowing gods.. We all have bedrooms for a reason."

"Bedrooms and, one would hope, a filter between the mouth and the brain," Angelus rubbed his thumb on the paper, deliberately smudging a line to create shadow. "I'm all for devotion to the right person, demon, or whatever you fancy, but must there be poetry?"

Smiling humourlessly, Duce comments, "Oh, for some, it's all about the poetry. Fancy, beautiful words that strike a thrill into their soul and make them look intelligent and feel important by how those words reflect upon them. Very rarely do they give any thought to what the words actually mean, or even acknowledge that words should mean something or they're nothing more than a wasted breath. Without thought to how those words affect others, because as everyone knows, all wounds can be healed by two more words - 'I'm Sorry'."

Her word heavy with sarcasm, Duce adds, "We prefer action over words any day. It's one thing to say you love someone, to say you care and that you're loyal.. it's another to actually show it, and for us? That counts for more. Sadly, too many people think their poetry will make up for something their actions completely belie."

Reaching into a pocket, Duce produces a small tin of cinammon Altoids, offering them to Angelus, "Mint?"

"Ta," Angelus accepted one. He savored it for a moment before making a face not unlike a dog that's just drunk soapy water by accident. "That's... different."

Duce pops one into her mouth and gives Angelus a curious look. The look slowly fades into one of abashed horror, "Please tell us you don't have extra-ordinary taste as well?" Wincing slightly, she flips the lid down so Angelus can read the 'curiously strong' warning on the front. "You didn't know about Altoids? We thought everyone knew about them.."

"No, no, I do," Angelus's expression became even more befuddled. "That just might be the problem."

Duce swears and whips a (clean) kleenex out of her pocket, "Here, spit. These things are strong for normal people. Sorry.." She sounds absolutely apologetic, "never occurred to me that you hadn't had them before. Or shouldn't."

"No, I refuse to admit defeat," Angelus swallowed. Then looked as though he considered that to rank highly on his list of the dumbest things he'd ever done in his centuries of unlife. "Even if perhaps I should have."

Staring at him as if he's both the dumbest creature crawling the face of the earth as well as the bravest man she's ever seen, Duce's face is a picture of shock.

"That.. Dude. I haven't the words. You win," she comments, bemused.
