Glee Club, Music Room, Thursday Afternoon [ 12/02 ].

Considering that Ariel still had that darned PuddiPuddi song stuck in her head, she was hoping that it wouldn't negatively effect her duet today. It was troublesome that, as she set out the usual snacks and drinks for everyone, she had to really concentrate to remember her song. The power of the PuddiPuddi was just that strong.

"Okay, guys! It's time for our Duets competition, so I hope you found a really good partner and worked on something extra impressive. I know I did." And, of course, she flashed Ellie an extra big smile there. "Like I said a few weeks ago, Master Skywalker and Mister Deadpool will being our judges; they're disqualified from competing although we'd love to still see another duet from them all the same, right? And then the winner gets dinner at Il Pollo! Who wants to go first?"

And, yes, Ariel did find her Giga pudding (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sseQ7vhvUc), and was now happily going to serve it to her fellow Gleeks.

Actually having it only increased her utter love for it.

Raven hadn't known about the duets competition until Saturday due to missing the meeting while in Louisiana, but she was content to listen to the others perform.

Alexander wasn't usually nervous about these sorts of things, but he knew that his partner would like to win, so he just hoped that he could perform well and not disappoint her and make her wish she'd chosen someone else to sing with.

Luckily, staring at the Giga pudding and wondering if they should actually just kill it rather than eat it was doing wonders to distract him from his anticipation.

He avoided snacking, not wanting to get any crumbs on the nice suit he wore for his costume. He rather liked it, but he was afraid he'd never really be able to wear again for fear that Maladicta would also like it and steal even more of his clothes.

Quinn adjusted her headband and smiled a thin, nervous smile at Alexander as she took her seat. She knew they could win; performing just always made her nervous.

"Ready to do this?" she asked, reaching to pick invisible lint off his suit.

Alexander smiled a little, following Quinn's fingers to the invisible lint and still not terribly sure what to think of the go-go boots.

"Ready as I'll ever be," he answered honestly enough. "Are you?"

Go-go boots were awesome.

"I think we can handle this crowd," she said, giving them a look. "Let's go."

Alexander chuckled slightly, somewhat covering up his uncertainty, before grabbing his hat and hopping up (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/2685410.html?thread=171317474#t171317474).

Ellie was going to avoid the Giga pudding. It was just...weird. Besides, she was too nervous for snacks right now.

"Ellie!" Ariel, who had more than enough Giga pudding for everyone, bounced on up to her duet partner. "Think you're ready? I think Quinn and Alexander are getting ready to go, but we can go after them, huh?"

"Ready as I'm gonna be," Ellie told her, doing her best to hide the nervousness. She was sure it would pass once the performance began. "I'm good with going after them."

Ariel clapped her hands happily, bouncing just a little. "Good! Let's watch, then, and get ready!"

Getting out before the crowd, Alexander took a moment to jauntily dawn the hat to match his fine tailored suit (of course, he was a little biased since he'd worked on it), and offered out his hand to bring Quinn up so that they could start their song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6bOCUOPN0w)...

Quinn took his hand and grinned at him. If she was still nervous, it only showed in her slightly too-careful posing, as if she thought things would go entirely wrong if they weren't carefully kept on the right track.

She opened her mouth to sing as the music started.

And, once you got past those first few notes, it got a little easier, and Alexander focused on the performance and the cuteness of the song.

Then afterwards we drop into a quiet little place

And then I go and spoil it all
By saying something stupid
Like I love you

This ... wasn't so scary. This was kind of fun, actually. Quinn shot him a smile and started moving less stiffly. The song didn't exactly call for complicated choreography, but that didn't mean she should stand totally stiff.

A lack of complicated choreography was definitely working in Alexander's benefit; he worked better without having to think about moves so he could focus on returning Quinn's smile genuinely.

Quinn wasn't making flirty eyes at Alexander, exactly. It was more that the character she was playing in the song was making flirty eyes at the character he was playing.

... that was different. Right?

Alexander was certainly not making flirty eyes back, either. Quinn, after all, did not even look remotely like Cassima, and, in fact, if she was to resemble anyone he knew, it would be his sister.

Ahem.

Of course those totally weren't flirty eyes, just like that wasn't a pleased smile creeping across Quinn's face. It was nice they seemed to be on the same page.

But then I think I'll wait until the evening

And this part coming up certainly was Alexander's favorite, so he did what he could with it. The guy was quite the romantic at heart, and so quite a bit of heart went into it.

And then softening it up from the dramatic climb to tilt his head toward Quinn and smile as he, with a bit of bashfulness for both the lyrics and the abandon given to song:

This was the showy bit, but it still wasn't a terribly showy song. Still, Quinn's pleased smile of pride at having gotten through it was showy.

She took Alexander's hand again and leaned into a curtsy.

... as well as she could curtsy in go-go boots and a miniskirt, anyhow.

It might not have made for a typical curtsy, no, but it was certainly cute, and Alexander grinned a he held Quinn's hand with one of his own, while the other tipped his hat with a little bow to match her curtsy.

And felt immensely relieved. They'd gotten through it and he didn't screw it up, either. Huzzah!

When Quinn and Alexander were finished (and Ariel had to admit, that was super cute, but that just meant that she and Ellie were going to have to be extra energetic in theirs), Ariel was more than happy to start up the next number (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9G4jnaznUoQ).

Good thing she was hopped up on Giga pudding, and they had much cuter outfits than the guys who originally sang it. Even Ariel had to admit those clothes were a little scary.

Of course she was going to start out with the random call-out of places around the world.

"Okay! Tokyo!" she started.

Ellie was very relieved they were wearing cuter outfits. At least that was something she didn't have to be nervous about. Though it was more a nervous energy she was feeling. She almost felt like that might be beneficial.

"South America! Australia!" she shouted, continuing the call-out of places. "France!

She was smiling, already having fun with this.

"Germany!" Ariel couldn't call that one out with a little roguish wink into the audience toward Blackagar and Medusa, of course. "UK!" Oh, heck, Jono on that one, too. "Africa!"

Uhhh...

Dancing! Lots of dancing, and getting to the actual song, too!

Ellie was suddenly very determined to win, so she made sure she got the choreography right. Because yeah, there was a lot of dancing.

It only made sense! They were, after all, dancing in the streets!

And it was so cheesetastic, that the more bounce, the better, right?

It was Glee Club. Cheese seemed to work well here.

Really, the lack of it even on the snack table was incredibly disappointing.

"Don't forget the motor city

Ariel didn't even know where most of these places were, but she wasn't about to let that stop her from singing about them very, very, very enthusiastically.

Ellie realized just how dated this song was since the USSR didn't even exist any more. Still, it was a lot of fun.

That seemed to make the lyrics extra poignant, if you could still dance in a place that didn't even exist anymore.

And, yes, Ariel was particularly proud of the little hip wiggling move she'd put in there.

Ellie smirked slightly at that. Hip wiggling seemed like a requirement for this song.
