Fraser back in the classroom today, looking relaxed and refreshed after the holiday break. He smiled and nodded as the students filed in.

"Welcome back. I hope everyone had a good holiday. Today, we're going to talk about something a little close to home. I'm sure all of us have been new to the island at one point or another. And I'm sure all of us have heard different stories and legends from people who might have been here longer than you. So, my question for today is what's the strangest thing you've heard that's turned out to be false? Did someone tell you the ocean burped chocolate? Did someone tell you one of the teachers was a three headed hydra?"

That one, Fraser admitted, could be true one day.

"Conversely, what's the strangest thing you've been told that's turned out to be true? In talking about things like this, we can see firsthand how urban legends begin. They might take root in a small fact but grow when people embellish the fact to make it seem like it something more than it is. Let's discuss."

"Do you think that's an island thing or just a sign of the times?" Fraser asked her.

"Perhaps a bit of both," Rilla said. "I've seen the terrible fashion is other places I've visited in different classes, but there are still students here from other...worlds...that have the same fashion tastes as this time without being from this time."

"Have you asked why they might dress like that?" Fraser wondered. "Perhaps there's a reason?"

Rilla was quite sure it was because they all had the morals of the shore girls in the Upper Glen.

"Perhaps they weren't raised properly?" she offered.

"You can't really think that's the only reason, can you?" Fraser asked, curious. "Just because they're different?"

"Well, I know that fashion changes," Rilla said. "It would be horribly out-of-date to show up somewhere with five starched petticoats under your skirt, or hoops, or a poke bonnet. But some of the skirts can hardly be considered fabric at all!"

"Well, I'm sure some girls wear their skirts short for purely personal reasons but that doesn't mean they were raised badly," Fraser pointed out. "Fashion is usually their choice."

Rilla looked dubious. "Perhaps."
