After his meeting with Dean Bristow (http://www.livejournal.com/users/dean_bristow/9664.html?thread=190656#t190656), Marty enters Sidle's classroom

"Ms. Sidle? If you have a moment. I don't know if you were aware of the incident that happened in town where a hallucinatory gas was released and caused several students and a faculty member to act erratically? I've been investigating the issue and I believe that a student on this campus has been using materials and the lab to fabricate the drug."

"I've asked Dean Bristow if there's a way that we can lock down who has access to the chemicals to the lab so that we can prevent any abuse from this student and he told me to meet with you regarding the matter."

*She frowns.* I was aware of the incident -- I was on my way to inform Principal Connor of the occurrance and odd behavior of my colleague, Dr. Grissom, when I slipped and wound up with a concussion.

As for my labs, *she spends several moments reviewing security logs. Fort Knox has nothing on her measures,* this (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhigh/4451.html) is the schedule and there have been no breaches in security that I can see. I honestly don't know how whomever was ultimately responsible did such things.

"What about the science club? Cuddy told me that during the time they are in the lab they are able to access any of the chemicals or equipment."

((For explanation on how the toxin was created (http://www.livejournal.com/users/master_of_fear/1383.html?thread=61287#t61287) Crane!mun said that the chemicals were taken from both school or town. Maybe some of the chemicals mean nothing to the average eye, but you have him taking some none the less.))

Hmmmm. It is possible seemingly innocuous chemicals were used when the Science Club met here. Though frankly for any to take some without me noticing unless...

*Goes into the storage closet--returns cursing under her breath.* Bastard replaced the bottles--that's why I didn't notice anything missing. The chemicals taken were [rattles off short list].

*She's more than a little furious.*

Ms. Sidle, I don't know if Chloe Sullivan has aproached you, but do you know of any student or teacher who might have the ability to concoct such a drug?

The only teachers with any training in true chemistry are Dr. Grissom and myself. Neither of us would do so, I can assure you. *She is still quite furious.*

As for the students, I honestly don't know. Chemistry isn't being taught this semester.

Marty nods. "I wouldn't have considered it. Well... Grissom can be a little weird at times but that's a harmless weird. I understand that you'd be here during class time, but would you like me, Alanna or Rover to be here during the science club hours to make sure that nothing else is taken from here?"

I would appreciate that, Marty. Of course, I'll probably start being here myself.

Marty smiles in a devious way. "Excellent. I don't suppose we could say... lay a trap for our little crook."

*An answering grin. Be afraid. Be very, very afraid.*

Just what I was thinking.

"I don't suppose that we could find some array of chemicals that alone are inert but say when someone comes in contact with each one of these ingredients-"

*Waves notebook with list of stolen chemicals*

"-the suspect's hands would become indelibly stained? Or perhaps would glow underneath a blacklight?"

Precisely what I was thinking. *Proceeds to make approrpiate adjustments.*

Marty watches as Sidle works.

"Professor Sidle? Other than this little trap we're laying out, what would you do to catch a suspect that you know is guilty but have no physical evidence to link them to the crime?"

*A slight chuckle.* Trick out a confession by making the suspect believe there was incontrovertible evidence.

*smiles*

"Isn't that entrapment?"

Not if done properly. And some people can't keep silent to save their lives.

Marty shakes his head. "This guy? He's not going to roll over on a basic interrogation. I've already questioned him a little and made insinuations and he didn't even flinch. I know he's the guy but there's no way Bristow would believe the testimony of two dope dealers and I don't want to give up the other student."

Connor sgns in. he's been istracted lately, and is distracted today.
