Food Appreciation [Week 13, Period 4, Mon. 11/29]

The class was lucky, John had returned. Okay, maybe they weren't all that lucky since he'd only gotten into town that morning and so the students might dislike his idea of a class. "Students who I didn't actually miss! Here we are, joined again as we lead up into the hell of finals week. Not that finals are usually so bad in Fandom, but I'm planning on breaking you guys a bit if I can manage it. I have two more weeks to plan and I'm gonna use them."

John moved to the table at the front of the room. "Behold, today we have leftovers. I know, who wants to eat food they already ate earlier in the week? Well, college students around the world would take all your leftovers off your hands and then expect you to empty your wallets, too. Back in my time, we turned leftovers into alternative breakfasts and lunches until the stuff ran out or went bad. Especially anything snagged from a Thanksgiving dinner - which just happens to be what they had last week here in Fandom! So I talked to the cafeteria and grabbed us a fresh set of leftovers. We're eating a Thanksgiving sandwich today - or anything else you can make out of turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy, and cranberry sauce." John would welcome anything edible. He uncovered the trays and grinned at his students. "Don't look so sorry to see it again, let's start cooking-ish."

Jane hadn't gotten actual Thanksgiving dinner. (Thanks, Mom and Dad!) She had absolutely no problem with this class. She judged anyone who did, in fact.

Alex could dig this. The Thanksgiving food had been awesome despite the fact that he'd had to dress up like a freaking pilgrim. He got to work making a big sandwich.

Seeing as how Kate had spent Thanksgiving in Bristol without another American in sight, she had absolutely no problem with any of this.

And assembling a big sandwich made for a great distraction from anything else that may have been on her mind.

Jane was a traditionalist. She'd just pile as much turkey as she could onto bread, add a little mayonnaise, and anything else would be a side. There were just some things that didn't belong on a sandwich together. This was a firm belief of hers, right uo there with 'thou shalt not sell out.'

Helen was all about the stuffing and gravy. A little heating up and a spoon and she was a happy girl.

Momoko managed a modest sandwich of turkey-cranberry sauce, but she was totally eyeing the gravy and mashed potatoes for her next one. Maybe on sourdough?

K-Mart was thrilled to pieces with this class.

Of course, she'd also managed to score herself what she was pretty sure was the biggest turkey leg in the history of forever, so she was a happy girl.
