Boom-De-Yada Science - Danger Shop, Wednesday, Period 1 [Week 12]

Upon entering the Danger Shop, the students found themselves on the side of a mountain. They weren't dangling or anything like that. There was a perfectly good landing to fit them all and a perfectly good (if steep) path leading down to the village below and the water beyond that. Everything was grand as it could be, except for the fact that the mountain had smoke wafting up from its top.

The Doctor waited for the door to close behind the last of them. The ground rumbled underneath their feet. He gave them a look that spelled out their doom, namely a 'this is going to be fuuuuun' smile. Turning to look up at the mountain, he pointed out the smoke. "Volcano. Don't die. Have fun!"

The rumbling happened again and the top of the volcano exploded into life, sending burning rocks and a spray of lava, smoke and ash into the air.

With that, he broke into a trot down the steep mountain path. Anyone not wanting to deal with lava would have been wise to follow.

Of course there was an exploding mountain in this class. Of course.

Kitty ended up thinking the weirdest (if most useful) things in this class. Such as, If I could phase through water, I could like, phase through freaking fire rolling towards me if I have to, right?

Which is exactly what she was thinking right now, yes.

"This freaking class."

Though, dude, how else was a poor teenager from Minneapolis going to get the (much later) chance to brag about fleeing an erupting volcano?

Volcano. Right.

This had NOTHING to do with science, did it? Like most of the other classes, the Doctor just thought it would be fun.

It wasn't real, but it felt like it was real, so Raven instinctively unleashed her Soul-Self to shield herself and anyone near her from the ash and lava raining down on them.

Christian clambered down the path, barely managing to keep his footing.

he lost it entirely at the bottom, and skidded the last few feet to safety.

There's a time when reminding yourself it's not a real volcano just loses its effect. That time would be about now.

"I can see the boom but not the de-yada on a freaking volcano!" But she was running alright, arms up in a surely improbably efficient defensive stance.

Claudia broke into a full blown, no holds barred, barely managing to keep from just falling over and rolling down the hill run, throwing in the occasional attempt to hurdle over various rocks.

It's possible she most closely resembled one of the dudes from that Scottish cheese roll thing.

Kurt started running down the mountain as fast as he could, but slowed when he saw the village below.

He stopped running and waved his arms, trying to get his classmates' attention. Sure, it was just a simulation, but he was an X-Man!

"Hey, everybody!!!" he shouted. "Let's save that village!!!"

Helen sighed, then took off running.

A few hundred meters away from the village, between it and the volcano, Kurt started teleporting large chunks of earth out of the ground and piling them close by -- effectively building a wall around the village with a trench in front of it. It wasn't going to be done by the time the lava got there, but he had to try, didn't he?

Helen sighed again, amazing how she managed that when she could barely catch her breath, no? Then she changed her arm into that ever so handy sword of light that could cut through anything and began slicing up big chunks of earth for Kurt to move. Had to be easier when he didn't have to rip them from the ground himself, right?

Kurt grinned at her and saluted. "Danke!"

He staggered a little, but fought to keep the nausea under control and went back to moving earth.

Helen continued cutting, but was a bit worried when he staggered. "Anything else I can do to help?" she called over.

Kurt shrugged. "Know anyone who can help with the moving? The Danger Room makes it all weird when I 'port."

She shook her head. "I don't know. But hopefully if there is someone they'll come help."

It would be terribly hard to guess which of them it might be. Really it would.
