Glee Club, Music Room, Thursday Afternoon [ 11/18 ].

"Hi, everyone!" Ariel gave the club a little bit of a wave once it looked like mostly everyone was there and it was time to begin. "I promise, I'm not going to make anyone sing about sexy things today, unless you really want to, in which case, go for it! Today, we're just going to take it easy and sing whatever we might want to sing about and have fun."

Because someone had a birthday party she had to go set up for, ahem.

"But, I was also thinking of something fun we could do next week that might take some practice, but would be a really great way to work together and get to know each other a little more. We should do duets next week! And we could also make it sort of a competition, so that whoever works together best and has the best duet, I've actually picked up a gift certificate for free dinner at Il Pollo. I hear they have free breadsticks! Mister Deadpool and Master Skywalker, obviously, get to judge who has the best. And they don't count, 'cause I know they like to sing together, and then they'd just pick themselves."

As much as she'd support a Deadpool/Anakin dinner date.

Ariel gave a faint, anticipatory smile to the group. "What do you think?"

[[ the ocd is a'coming a'here! ]]

[[ ETA: My brain is special and just remembered next Thursday is Thanksgiving. So Ariel will amend to make it the week after next for the competition once she finds out what Thanksgiving is ;) ]]

Alexander could certainly see the appeal of such an activity, especially since so many others in the club had so much talent, but he couldn't help feeling a little disappointed, as the only person he'd really truly want to do a duet with (and with whom he'd be certain he'd win) was someone he had no chance to dueting with at all...

Cutest not-claimed boy in Glee, let's see. Survey said Alexander.

"This is an interesting assignment," Quinn said. "You'll have to be careful, though. If you pick the wrong partner you might lose."

"I suppose," Alexander said, "at least the loss would not be so great. If you think about it, free food is always available in the common rooms, but I would venture that the experience is significantly heightened at the restaurant. Still, so long as you and your partner have fun....though it would be nice to win..."

"It's always nice to win," Quinn said smoothly. "The free food's just symbolic. The fun part would be knowing you proved something." A beat. "If you had the right partner, anyhow."

"True enough," Alexander allowed. "I'm sure whoever has the fortune of being paired with you, Quinn, will stand a good chance at the prize; you have a wonderful voice, one that would do well in accompaniment."

Oh, Alexander.

But he did rather feel that that three year old was a poor substitute at the concert, really.

"I sing better when I'm paired with somebody with a strong voice who I trust," Quinn said, matter-of-factly. "And I think a boy/girl pair will probably win. That's how these things usually work."

"I bet you could win too," she added. "You're a really good performer. All depends on who snaps us up."

... put the pieces together, Alexander.

Give him time! He was pretty good at piecing things together, true, but sometimes it took a lot of clicking through your inventory and seeing what all might not work first.

"Do you think so?" he asked modestly. "I would hope I at least didn't disappoint whoever it was I did wind up working with..."

"I think so," Quinn nodded, with an impatient little toss of her head, and decided she did not feel like waiting for Alexander to get the hint. "Want me to ask you myself to prove it? 'Cause I would."

See, and now Alexander seemed to have found the correct random item in his inventory, the great, elusive pie to defeat the yeti.

"Do you suppose..." he ventured, brows lifted a little in surprise, "we should partner up, then?"

Hallelujah, he got it.

"I'm going home for Thanksgiving Tuesday morning, but I can practice anytime before then," Quinn said, sitting up very straight and smiling. "Well. Anytime except tomorrow night. But yes. I think we'd have fun."

Now was not the time to think about how that response was exactly the sort Rosella would have given. Alexander smiled a little. "Then I will be honored to work with you, Quinn. Perhaps we could get together Sunday and figure something out? I take it you've got an engagement tomorrow night?"

"I have an invitation to go dancing," Quinn confirmed, also still smiling. "Sunday is fine. Could I stop by your dorm room?"

"That sounds perfect," Alexander confirmed with a nod. "I'll see if I can think of any good songs before then, and you'll have to spare at least a few words as to how your dancing goes."
