The students were greeted by a large open arena that may or may not have looked like a fully intact Roman Colosseum only with a completely flat and open centre. Something that was definitely not Roman was the Doctor, the remote control in his hand and the oversized (twice the size of a human) robot spider.

"Hello!" the Doctor said, looking far too happy about his toy. "Arachnids this week. Eight legs, definitely not insects since those have six legs but you could still call them bugs since that's all encompassing. No antennae or wings, the body is organised into the cephalothorax and the abdomen and the former is usually covered by an unsegmented carapace. All spiders are arachnids, but not all arachnids are spiders. You have scorpions, mites, ticks and assorted others that you can research in your own time. Anyone want to play with the robot spiders?" he asked, finally taking a moment to breathe. "There's a remote control for each of you on the table over there. You can figure out which one is yours. The legs on these spiders, though not non-robotic ones, are good for destroying other robot spiders. Last robot spider standing wins a chocolate bar."

His spider then skittered off to start attacking the others. Someone hadn't had his monthly destruction of property fix.

Cara looked up at the robot spiders with an expression best described as unfettered glee, then started trying to figure out how exactly a remote control worked.

The Doctor wasn't the only one in the class with a penchant for property destruction.

"Does this thing have a flamethrower?"

What, it was a giant robotic spider; it so had to have one of those. Zatanna was still trying to get it to walk straight though, so she might not really get to the flame throwing anytime soon.

"I do not th-think they would," she said, having overheard the question. "I... mean, normal spiders do not and these seem to be modelled after those."

It wasn't all too easy to tell if Zatanna was actually disappointed a the lack of flamethrowers, or if she was just pretending. Whatever it was, it didn't last much. "Modeled after them, but I bet they don't make any webs neither..." Unless she was missing a button. "Still, these are pretty cool, although I'm not sure where is the Science here. Because the Boom-De-Yada? Perhaps." But not the science, though.

"Perhaps the spiders," she suggested, eyes amused at the thought. "The study of them could be scientific."

Now that was an idea. "So...we need to tear at least one open to see how they look on the inside!" And it was so not going to be her's.

"Not mine," she said hastily. "I need it for class. Maybe a spare one?"

If there were any spare ones?

"I don't know? But I'm sure the Doctor could, um, generate a spare one? Although I'm pretty sure he would want us to battle and use the losing spider for science." Air quotes happened there.

"Or...we could team up and sneak on someone else and take that spider."

"Two spiders against one would work," she mused, considering the arena. "But at the same time, it seems almost--mean--to steal another's when the loser's would work just as well."

"Not steal, but defeat it?" She hadn't meant to imply they should steal one, but now Zatanna was seeing how that could have been understood. "It should be easy enough...unless we want to beat the Doctor's; I bet he has used these things before." And even if he hadn't, the guy looked quite capable anyway.

Ooooh.

"I do not think going after the Doctor's would be smart," she mused, tilting her head consideringly. "It might be easiest for us to simply go against each other--if one of us lost, we'd have done the class work and be able to satisfy our own interests."

But two against one would be so fun! Oh well.

"Okay? I suppose that's the easiest way..." Her inner bully would need to wait for another chance to have its fun.

Unfortunately for Zatanna, Hinata's inner bully was left for the important things in life.

"It is easier," she said, with a bit of a nod. "Shall we, then?"

[YYY!]

"Let's!" She had to remember herself that it was all Danger Shop shenanigans after all, so getting her spider beaten shouldn't worry her that much.

Okay, officially the coolest class ever. Not that Mt Everest and Mars hadn't already gotten there on the coolness meter.

Right now his spider was dancing. He'd get around to attacking someone in a moment.

The place deserved a few good stares, in her opinion, though most of her attention was on, well, playing with her spider. She was practicing having it spin and feint.

Helen adored spiders and was absolutely fascinated by the mechanical ones! She quietly called up a number of real spiders in the area and was comparing them with the robotic one.

"Suddenly I'm getting flashbacks to that awful Will Smith movie," Peter said, grabbing a control.

Claudia wasn't a huge fan of real spiders? But giant robot spiders were awesome. This would be her, going straight for a remote to start causing some giant robot spider damage.

Kitty had her droid baby with her in class today, and was wondering whether or not she'd be able to like, sit so she could hold little Archibald Charles and hold the remote, or if anyone could hold him for her. And then there was a more pressing thought. "I hope these robots don't cry."

Kurt grabbed a remote control with glee.
