Pheromones.

A specific type of them. Kerrigan had smelled it since the moment she stepped anywhere near close to another human being that morning, and it was mildly disgusting. Her own system had filtered them out - Zerg physiology being what it was - but with these kids...

... well, there was a reason why they were meeting in a rainforest in the Danger Shop. Rain was pouring down from the sky at an alarming pace, in fact. Because Kerrigan was considerate like that, she'd laid out some raincoats, but that was about that.

"This isn't really macro-level," she said, idly, "But it might get you some insights on battlefield mechanics. For each of you, there's a duplicate somewhere in this woods. Well, 'duplicate' - they'll have your measurements, and they'll be identifiable by colour," she nodded at the differently-shaded strips she'd had the TAs hand out, "...but I'm not interested in pitting you against anything with your face."

Interesting experiment as that might have been.

"You have, as before, five minutes to discuss tactics. Work together, work individually, I don't care. Your goal is to take out your duplicate in whatever manner possible. Go."

Leia had woken up feeling strangely amorous. Being soaking wet was probably going to dampen (ha ha) that considerably. For awhile, at least.

Thank God -or whatever other god was around- for the rain. Real or not, it was enough to make Cloud feel less anxious. Stupid island, though as he tried to focus on the class.

James slipped on the raincoat; it was far too noisy for his likes, although the dryness was a welcome change. He put his talents to use focusing on the instructions. Duplicate? Interesting.

Alexander had a raincoat and lifted his arm as if that could help shield him a little more from the rain as he listened to the instructions with a thoughtful frown. At least he figured it was an intriguing enough exercise to take his mind off of Cassima for a little bit.

Emma had been twitchy all morning, for no reason she could pin-down. The rain helped, however, and while she had the raincoat on over her clothes, she left the hood down so she could turn her face skyward and let the rain soothe her.

Cally found herself grateful for the downpour, fake as it might be. It did a lot to dampen -- if not completely erase -- the echoing tension from ... something.

Whatever that might be. It was hard to tell how much of this restless feeling was her own inexplicable mood this morning and how much was coming from the general psychic atmosphere, but something odd (though not entirely unpleasant) was up.

Karla didn't bother with the warming spell that, even though casting it was almost second nature by now. She was keeping her use of Craft to a minimum, at least until she put a little more weight back on.

Of course, not using Craft was going to make this entire class a much more exhausting effort than usual, and that wasn't even taking into account how little energy she had and how thin her reserves were.

Balls. Hopefully her duplicate was in similar condition.

You've got five minutes. Discuss tactics with your fellow students, form groups, or go at it alone.

Each student gets a bow and thirty arrows, as well as a large staff and a machete.

Leia examined the bow and tried to take a few shots with it while waiting. It was primitive and awkward, but she might be able to get some decent accuracy with it.

Blackagar nodded at Leia, offering a quick smile that was slightly dampered by all the rain and... strange tension. He'd need to meditate extra tonight.

He shrugged one shoulder awkwardly since the rain meant writing it out was a bit of a wash. Partner up?

Cloud was pretty useless with a long ranged weapon -unless it was his sword, figures- so the machete looked more like his option.

Whether he would end up teaming up or not, it was hard to tell.

James tested the bow against a nearby tree; satisfied that he could hit the broad side of a barn and would use it if necessary, he clipped the machete to his belt to keep it safe from the rain, and wrestled with the bow and arrows to try and keep them weatherproof.

He waited a moment to see if anyone wanted to partner.

Venture Forth Into the Jungle

Find your duplicate, and put an end to them. Try not to get tripped up by the forest.

Each duplicate is armed with the exact same equipment as the students, and can be identified by colour. They're also nondescript to the point of not appearing particularly human, and will simply disappear if lethally harmed.

Karla had a lot to talk about to Kerrigan today: a note to deliver, an apology to make, make-up work to receive...

She'd like to ask to be excused from today's class as well, but she was pretty sure than Kerrigan wouldn't accept her current physical state as a good enough reason to miss yet another class. So Karla was keeping that request back behind her teeth (and shields), even as she approached Kerrigan with a note and a tentative, "Professor?"

Kerrigan's gaze tilted away, for the moment, from the forest (and the irritating stench of hormones). "Karla," she replied, one eyebrow raising. "I'm sure this is about your sudden disappearance."
