"Last week, you were given an assignment," Kerrigan began. If anyone hadn't done their homework, she'd know. (Not that she'd honestly care, but she'd know.) "This week, I'm not going to say another word. You're going to do the talking. What influence did your chosen area have on your potential tactics? What challenges did you have to overcome with your given advantages and disadvantages? Which tactic seemed the most sound, using all the variables?"

A pause.

"And of course, who won? I want all of you to answer these questions. Offer each other suggestions on alternate paths. Get to it."

Cally was trying to concentrate, but it would help if she wasn't sneezing every five minutes and watching the classroom with watery, allergy-ridden eyes.

She'd done a lot of dusting yesterday night.

It had seemed like a good idea at the time?

Tactics. Considering your disadvantages and advantages, and the terrain you decided upon, which tactics seemed most sound? Why? How effective do you think they were? Did you win?

Don't be afraid to question, heckle, or suggest things to your fellow students, either.

"I didn't do the homework, and I forgot to give it to Karla," Emma replied bluntly. "I was busy putting theory into practice elsewhere."

What? Kerrigan would know if she lied, and this explanation might at least garner some brownie points.

"And how did you do that, Frost? Did you run into an army without a general somewhere?"

The words were idly mocking. Kerrigan really didn't care all that much.

"I brought the army, but we didn't exactly pick the terrain or the battle." Emma didn't want to elaborate too much without Karla's permission, so she just shrugged. "We walked out, they didn't. Can I have an A?"

"You're alive," Kerrigan said, rolling her eyes. "That starts with 'a'."

"Of course I won," James said, in a tone that suggested there was never a doubt. "A good tactician knows how to plan for the expected and how to change the plan for the unexpected and to counter the plans of the enemy." A good tactician also knows how to plan as if the assignment was performed solo.

When they've pinged in.

Emma was there, and might even answer questions.

She's in a neutral kind of mood today. For her standards, that's good.

First day back at school. The light hurts my eyes, dude. I may have spent a little too much time playing video games this past week.
