Demolition and Dynamite; Friday, Third Period [ 10/29 ].
As the students came into the classroom, they would find a smirk, sharp like a dagger, on their teacher's face. It was the sort of smirk most people knew to avoid, but, unfortunately, the students didn't have much of a choice.
"Have I got an assignment for you guys this week!" Kūkaku informed them happily. "Today, we're learning that jus' because it doesn't look like a bomb, it doesn't smell like a bomb, must mean it ain't a bomb, right? Well, wrong. Today we're working on booby traps."
Here Kūkaku paused, throwing a look across her shoulder, daring any of them to snort, laugh, or even so much as titter.
"Booby traps, originally, are meant to kill. We are not killing. I believe in bombs for funsies, for blowing shit up, and making pretty explosions, so the hidden bombs we're going to work on today are going to be low charge, mostly for show, and generally harmless, unless our target has a heart attack from surprise. And, yes, there will be a target. Which is why if you give him more bang for his buck, you're not the only one in trouble, but I am, too. And I'll kick your ass.
"We've got a lot of options," she continued, going over things like smoke bombs, sticky bombs, barrels, and furniture.
"But it's gotta be a surprise. You gotta trick 'em up a bit. It can be a triggered bomb when a door is open, or maybe it takes the form of a sheep. Maybe you heard of a shoe phone? Well, make the phone a bomb! Today, we're gonna talk about what sorts of ways we can plant surprise bombs because, your mission, should you choose to accept it, which you're gonna because you have to, is to try to booby trap Sherlock Holmes' office."
Here, she pulled down a chart of the offices, where a particular Office #30 was circled. She thwacked her hand on it. "Holmes is a smart guy. He'll probably see through every trap you try to lay, and so that's only part of the challenge. You actually get this guy, you're my favourite from here on in. You may have to get creative, and the more creative you are, the better you'll do in my book, because you'll definitely get As for efforts. Now, he's out in the middle of no where because no one likes him anyway, and the only one with an office nearby is right next door, and she's the Sergeant, so not only do ya gotta be careful not to get caught by Holmes, but you might want to avoid pissing her off in your efforts, too. You've got 'til next week to try to booby trap him, and we'll see how you're doing next week."
"I'm more than happy to extend this assignment, too, if you get a bit caught up this week."
"So the actual planting and execution's gonna be the tough part. Making the surprised bombs should be the easy part, and that's what we're doing today. We'll be makin' 'em here, since they're supposed to be low powered, but I want you guys to talk about it and try to get creative, 'cause I can guarantee he's gonna see right past a trip wire or a whoopee cushion bomb, yeah? So we'll brainstorm a bit and then have some fun makin' a few and testing 'em out."
Ahhh, nothing like putting to work a small gathering of minions to satisfy your own personal enjoyment...
