Spaceships 101- 1st period- Week #8
"Hey, guys," Jaina greeted the class when everyone had shown up. "We're going to be changing things up a little for you guys today. I know most of you have experience with X-wings, and if you don't, don't worry. But we're not going to be flying them today. You're going to be flying against them."
She activated the projection of this week's ship, and continued, "This is a clawcraft. It's originally an Imperial design, now best known as Chiss ships. No, you're not expected to know who the Chiss are. They look a little different than you're probably used to. They're built with some impressive shielding, which protects the pilot in the cockpit, and the way they're built means they can manueuver really well. I've been shot down in an X-wing by a few of these; they're good ships." And she could actually say this like it was nothing, go her. "I also have to add the disclaimer that while I have a lot of experience flying against and alongside these, it's one of the few I think I haven't flown, because some people won't let you take their ships out for a joyride no matter how nicely you ask."
She adjusted the the projection to show an X-wing to those who might not know. "You're going to be dogfighting today, which means you're in the clawcraft going head to head with the X-wing. The objective's simple: blow them up, don't get blown up yourself. If there are no questions, let's get the first person in."

Listen to the lecture
Re: Listen to the lecture
Because why would it be amusing at all when she could picture said nice asking?
Re: Listen to the lecture
Or so was Ben's extremely biased view on the matter.
And if Jaina couldn't get her hands on a clawcraft, there was very little chance of Ben ever getting a chance to outside of a sim...which meant he was really looking forward to trying one out.
Re: Listen to the lecture
But she was pretty much gone the minute the projection activated: it just looked so COOL!
Wait your turn
Re: Wait your turn
Which meant research. On things, for example, like what the rate of fire was on the clawcraft's laser cannons compared to the X-Wing's. And how exactly to work the control jets that maneuvered the wings.
And . . .
Oh, boy.
Re: Wait your turn
and creepy. "Are those plans for the clawcraft?"Re: Wait your turn
WAS NOT.Tahiri was used to people being able to read over her shoulder whether they were trying to or not.
"I'm afraid I don't have detailed schematics for them, but it's at least a useful amount of information," she said, holding the datapad out. "If you'd like to take a look?"

Re: Wait your turn
"I'm not related to him!" she blurted out, blushing a brilliant red. "I've known his family my whole life, but -- no, he's my boyfriend."
Even though she could have been related to him if things had gone differently, and oh, ow, there went her brain breaking again.

Get in the sim
!
It took Momoko a few minutes to
fangirladjust, but the cockpit reminded her a bit of a tie-fighter, so she was soon dodging and weaving and trying to get the evil X-wing lined up in her sights. She was easily able to follow it and catch or overtake it, given how nimble the clawcraft was. She really liked this ship!
Oh, yeah, shooting... Uhm, would Jaina be able to tell she was drawing the fight out a little bit just to keep flying?
