What It Takes To Be A Badass | Friday | Period 2

With it being Homecoming weekend, Loki figured he'd tailor his class to the event for both learning and entertainment purposes. Besides, he figured this would be a great fucking way to break him out of the funk he'd been in.

"So, this weekend's Homecoming," he said once everyone had settled down. "And that means carnivals, food, lots of fucking people and, of course, the dance. Now, dancing is one of those lost arts. It's something that can make you look like a fucking BAMF if you do it right and like a fucking fool if you do it wrong. Now, you might be saying that dancing's fucking stupid and it's for girls or pansies or whatever. Well, maybe that's true but today's class is about dancing. You..."

He trailed off and gestured at the class, smirking. "...are gonna fucking dance. Dancing can impress just about anyone if you're good at it. You can be labeled as fucking graceful, flexible or just all around awesome. It's traditionally thought of as something only girls can do but that's not fucking right. It's fucking hard. It's a lot harder than what most people do and knowing how to dance can get you out of some potentially sticky situations. Now, just be glad I'm not making you all dance by yourselves in front of the entire fucking class. Instead, I want you to find a partner and dance. Slow dance, fast dance, whatever. You just have to fucking dance and your partner gets to judge how you look. Yep. You might think your a badass but your partner might think you look like a fucking fish out of water. While your self esteem is important, you've gotta know how to look to others."

And he wanted to laugh.

"So, partner up and dance. Consider it practice for tomorrow and exercise for today. Get to it."

Grab a partner and dance. Make sure each partner judges how well the other does in regards to the dancing! Be honest!

Calvin grinned, he was actually an unexpectedly good dancer. Came from having no sense of shame and a tiger for a partner.

Rosalind was... not quite glowering.

But pretty close. She eyed the entire class very very dubiously indeed.

Cloud wasn't even sure he wanted to go to Homecoming. Of course, he wouldn't say that out loud. He wasn't that big of a party popper.

No, really, he wasn't.

So there was him, still sitting, chin on the palm of a hand, wondering just what he was supposed to do about this class. And Homecoming.

"Does everyone need to go?"

It was pretty obvious what he was talking about.

"Go where? Homecoming?" Loki shrugged. "Fuck no, it's your choice. I'm just making you dance in class because I felt it was relevant."

Two classes that focused on dancing this week? Life was awesome.

Okay, Jason was making a mental note: skip all classes the week of Homecoming, or be made to dance twice. Geez.

Cloud was not going to discuss the relevance of dancing. He could see the point, but was there badassery involved? Unless you were dancing and kicking some ass, it didn't look at that awesome.

"Shouldn't you...set the example?"

"What?" Loki made a face. "Fuck that, I'm not that kind of teacher. You want someone to make an example, find some fucking nerd."

"Nerds don't dance, that I know off." He didn't consider the Glee Club nerdy, if anything. "But I get your point. Are you going to the Homecoming Dance?"

Alexander knew this was probably a good idea considering how his formal training in dance had been limited, and anything else he knew was from Glee Club, but...one could not help facepalming just slightly, and he hoped that perhaps this turned out to be one of his many unexpected talents.

"Probably not," Loki said, shaking his head. "I don't like fucking dances and I'd rather stay at home and play video games. If you don't wanna go, don't fucking go, kid."

Kurt was already shaking his booty like a total dork. He pirouetted up to her, held out a hand, and gave her a big grin. "Karla! Tanz mit mir!"

Karla didn't speak German, but his request needed no translation. "I'd be honored," she said, grinning and taking his hand. "Though I'm not good at modern dances, I warn you now!"

"There is no need to be good at dances!" Kurt told her with a grin. "Just shake what your mother gave you, and get down and get funky!!!"

...That was an expression Karla had never heard before.

"What did my mother give me, exactly?" Life, maybe? Was this an existential thing?

Watch Cloud eat his pride at being called a kid. Hmm, tasty pride.

"What kind of video games are those?" And where could he buy some?

"It is an American expression!" Kurt explained. "It means your sexy booty!"

And just in case she didn't know that word, either, he shook his own to demonstrate.

Which was good, because as far as she knew, 'booty' meant 'pirate treasure.'

"Kurt, did you just say I have a sexy ass?" Karla asked, trying not to laugh. "Or was that an objective 'sexy' as in, 'all booty's are'?"

Hello surreal conversations.

"Are you trying to deny the sexiness of your booty?" Kurt asked incredulously. "You are clearly not dancing enough, yet!"

"I don't often get a chance to look at it," Karla said, trying to turn around and do just that.

With the expected lack of results.

"And, for some reason, it doesn't often come up in coversation."

Kitty Pryde

Kurt tsk-tsked. "Warren is slacking in his duties! You should ask him about it!"

"I will!" Karla said, laughing. "This weekend, at the dance, I'll be sure to ask him about it. You'll be there, right? On the off-chance I forget, you can remind me."

Kurt put his hands to his face in mock horror. "And miss a chance to DANCE?!?! Of course I'll be there!!!"

"Then I'm claiming a dance!" Karla announced. "So there. We'll be the two badasses out on the floor tomorrow night."

Kurt gave her a bow. "I would be most honored!"

Karla grinned. "Astral. You can teach me to shake it like my mama gave it to me," she said.

Someone needed to remind Karla she needed to hear an idiom more than once before she was allowed to use it.

That someone was not going to be Kurt. "I think you already know how!!!"
