Study Hall -- Tuesday, October 25th

Sarah sits at the front desk occasionally glaring at the notebook and stack of papers at the far edge of the desktop. Instead of the constant scribbling she's been doing for days, she's got a deck of cards and is shuffling them over and over again out of boredom. She's horribly tempted to go out and play Texas Hold 'em with Locker 327, but she doesn't trust the fucking thing enough. Or, you know, at all.

"Late is . . . I have no idea. Didn't even wanna look at the clock." Anders shakes his head and takes another couple of huge swigs of coffee. "Me and Kara are trying to make a habit of running in the morning, plus we did some basic practice stuff last night. Footwork and passing drills, that sort of thing. Kind of hard without an actual court yet, but it's something."

He yawns, and his jaw cracks. "Weight training tonight, I think."

"If you fall asleep in here, I'm not protecting you," John says. "Lee told me about you and Kara. Things going better there?"

Anders raises an eyebrow -- or rather, he tries to, but the energy just isn't there. "What'd he say? And yeah, things are going better. Think we're back from hostile to harmless trash-talking. At least . . . I think it's harmless."

He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a couple of gumballs. "Gum?"

"Just that you and Kara weren't seeing eye to eye on the whole thing. You know Lee, he becomes proud dork #1 when Kara does something good." John smiles. "Gum, huh? Dare I ask the origin?" John holds out his hand for the gumball though.

Anders hands over the gumball. "The new lock Bridge installed on my door, actually. Don't get any ideas, though. If anybody but me or Cally tries it, they might end up in locker 327 or the basement."

He shakes his head and gulps more coffee. "And yeah, she wasn't too happy with me for not going through the roof the second I got that letter. I think we're good now though. Was nasty at the time."

"New lock huh? Only for you and Cally?" John elbows Anders slyly. "Are you guys playing house?"

John pops the gumball in his mouth and keeps grinning.

Anders turns bright red and tries to cover it up by gulping down the last of his left-hand cup of coffee. "Look who's talking, Crichton. Frak, I need more coffee."

He can't help grinning back, though.

John laughs so hard he has to put his head down on his desk. "Yeah, but I didn't put in a special lock, I just gave Aeryn a key. Though, she's liable to stab me with that right now." John slaps Anders (not to hard!) on the back. "It's good, man. You look happy."

~~Anders, unlike Lee, wouldn't die of a slap on the back anyway.~~ "See? No key. Good idea. One less thing to lose, too. Plus I get gum." He smiles crookedly. "I look like I haven't slept, 's what I look like. But thanks."

"Gum's good. But Aeryn's also carrying around the polar bear keychain I gave her. She gets to explain that and, in turn, what the key is for." John smiles widely. "You planning on sleeping tonight?"

"Yeah, but I kinda planned to last night, too." Anders shrugs and finishes off his second cup of coffee, his face still red. "And I think gum's about as much commitment as I have the nerve for right now. Not that the polar bear thing isn't cool, 'cause it is."

*sits down next to Anders*

Commitment nerves for what now? *raises an eyebrow*

"Anders and I are getting married. We're trying to figure out how to break it to the respective girlfriends."

John shrugs and blinks and swallows. "...no? No, I think you can have Anders. I can't give up Aeryn."

Deal. *giggle*

"Hey!" Anders bounces a gumball off John's head.

*chokes on his last gulp of coffee*

Nothing, coach. Crichton here's just giving me crap because you have a key code and not an actual key.

*leans over and kisses Cally's cheek*

*smiles* Well that's kinda silly ~~but I've been writing silly things on him in subtext-marker, so it's okay~~.

Have a good run this morning?

Yeah. *yawns* Still kinda sleepy though. ~~I hope you embarrassed him nicely.~~

Maybe we should work on trying to get to sleep earlier. I've been kinda tired today, too. *yawn*
