The Science of Deduction, Friday - 10/8

There was a movie set up for the class today. Possibly because the teacher had spent far too much time in Baltimore, nearly getting shot. Or possibly because there was no class next week.

"I'm not going to pretend your minds are working with the promise of poorly supervised ski trips looming ahead. So, in order to waste less of my time--" Which was clearly the important thing here. "--a movie was selected for you. I'm sure you're all thrilled," Sherlock said dryly.

Soon people would learn what happens when he allowed his flatmate to pick the movie. The annoyance at shoddy deductions would be immense.

As if Ariel could really concentrate on a class today, anyway, so she was definitely pleased to just enjoy a movie.

"Okay," Rinoa asked, eyes dancing. "What's new with you?"

Movie day totally meant they were going to talk. Right?

"You mean, new since the last time we saw each other, so long ago, like, yesterday?" Ariel asked, glancing over with a smirk. "Nothing too much; is there anything new with you?"

Rinoa rolled her eyes. "New since yesterday, new since the last time we dished, new anything because I'd rather gossip than watch a movie. Wouldn't you?"

Ariel laughed a little, trying her best to hide it and giving a wary glance toward Mr. Holmes. She half wondered if they should actually be texting right now, since she was pretty sure he'd approve of that method a bit more.

"Fair enough," she said, took a second to think about it, and then figured she go with a nice eyebrow-waggling, "I might have Bruce give me skiing lessons on the trip next week. You are going, too, right?"

"Absolutely," she grinned. "Cold weather makes for great snuggling."

Not that she'd had any progress, in Squall-land. She was starting to wonder if she shouldn't amuse herself in other ways, while she waited ...

"Oooh, Bruce can ski? Or is that a euphemism?"

"He says he can," Ariel choked down another laugh, "and climb moutains, too, but I guess we'll see when we get there."

"I should ask Selphie for tips," Rinoa mused. "She's from Trabia, way up north. Lots of snow. She probably has a good idea how to keep yourself amused in cold weather."

Besides the obvious, that being snuggling and/or euphemisms.

"A shame he'll be bundled up," she added a an afterthought. What? Guy were hot when they climbed things. More so if you could see the muscles involved.

"Not necessarily," said Ariel, lifting a finger. Her smirk would have been utterly shameless if it weren't for the faint blush on her cheeks. "It'll just make me appreciate it more when he isn't."

"Oh, I like how you think," Rinoa laughed. Allow her a moment to sigh, please? She hadn't peeled off a guy's clothes in months.

Seifer might have been reckless, sure, but he was plenty of fun.

"I'm sure you and Squall will have some time like that to yourself, too, right? Is he going to be coming, or is he too sulky for ski trips?"

"I don't know," Rinoa said. "I can guilt him into coming, by telling him it could be dangerous for me if we're under attack."

Which was ridiculous, but it gave him a convenient cover to agree under.

She drummed her fingers on the desk. "You know," she said. "I'm getting ... really bored waiting for him to decide to come around."

Do not judge her, zomg?

Cally, while interested in the upcoming trip, knew so little about it that you could hardly say she was distracted by the prospect.

Nevertheless, she wasn't going to complain about the chance to watch a film, especially an amusing one.

This film was rather ridiculous~~ly awesome~~. Still, Joolushko found it entertaining in an odd way.

Bruce was trying to ignore the fact that Ariel was gossiping, probably about him. The fact that the movie was one of the great comedies of the 1980s would have probably helped him do just that if he didn't tend to dislike comedies. So he ended up staring at the screen, looking ever so slightly uncomfortable if you knew what to look for.

When they ping in, with or without a jaunty hat.

William... did not have a jaunty hat. He did, however, have a blue ribbon tied around his neck.

Scully stopped. Stared.

"Why is there a puppy in class?"

Momoko had no interest in the movie. Especially when she saw the puppy.

"AH!!!!! Puppy!!" She rushed over and bent to look close. It had to be a student! Unless it was that friend of Professor Holmes? "Now, who are you supposed to be?"

Bruce didn't even have a hat that could be described as jaunty. And if anyone gave him one, it would never be seen again. It was possible that the person who gave it to him would never be seen again either.

But at least he was human.

See if he cares.

*big orchestral finish*
