Science Club - After Classes 10/25

Lisa opens the labs with Jonathan. They each have brought their badly mangled, but pieced back together battle bots from last week if anyone dares to challenge them. Lisa also added a hammer of doom to her bot. Just sayin'

"Hey everyone, I know we met on Thursday last week, but with Parents Weekend coming up I thought we should move the meeting for Tuesday and see how it goes this week. Thanks for making it."

She sets up an additional lab station with a new experiment for anyone who wasn't too into the bots last week, just in case.

The meeting is open to new members as well, who want to ~~play battle bots with me and JC-diz-ogg zomg! so fun!~~ impress their parents with an academic extra-curricular this weekend.

Marty walks into the room and "Waves. Hey Cuddy. How's life treating you today?"

"Smile" she laughs, taking a photo of him with her camera from art class. "Not too shabby, my bot is PRIMED. How are you doing?

Marty rubs the stars from his eyes from being flashed.

"Pretty good. Pretty good. That's one nasty little bot you got going there."

"Yes, yes it is. It needs a name though - any suggestions?"

"Uhhh... Cuddle-Monster?"

"Not so much the angle I was going for," Lisa laughs.

"Ash-basher?"

Hey Lisa, I'm not sure if you knew but the Junior Acheivers are holding a bake sale this weekend while the Parents are here. I talked to Angelus and he said it would be really cool if we could include members of science club in it. You know, make it more of a school-wide event.

I don't know how many would be interested but it's another chance to look good in front of the parentals this weekend as far as I'm concerned. If your interested could you make an anouncement?

And btw, I'm fixing my bot, we are so going again!

Marty happens to be in the room when Jonathon walks in.

"Hey. You're Crane right? Tell Angelus not to worry about it. The Student Council is holding a club fair on Saturday afternoon for all the parents. In fact I was hoping the science club would be able to have a display or do a demonstration that day. You interested?"

"Well yes and the club fair will be nice, but we thought a bake sale would give it a little something extra. I mean, the smell of baked goods is calming and considering some of the parents cming, I'm thinking calming wouldn't be a bad thing," Jonathan tells Martin smiling all the while, "besides, I'm pretty sure Angelus has Dean Bristow's approval and we've got a lot of people involved."

Marty grins. "You know what? You're completely right. Something calming is exactly what this campus needs. Especially after what happened at Spike's last week. Did you hear about that?"

"Of course, I mean, I was there! Angelus and I were hanging out and all the sudden all these people started freaking out. Faith had to throw out one of the people and those blonde guys working there spent most of the night trying to keep everyone calm. It was weird," Jonathan explains, pulling off innocent as well as only true sociopaths can.

"Oooooh. So you're the mystery man I've been looking for." Marty pulls out his notepad and flips through his notes.

"Tall. Dark wavy hair. Thin. Yep. I've been looking for you. Can you tell me anything else about that night? I'm doing a little investigation into the matter. A student ended up in the clinic and I want to make sure it doesn't happen again."

"Was it that really pretty brunette that was freaking out in Study Hall? I was wondering what had happened there.

Well, like I said, Angelus and I stopped in for a drink and Angelus started talking to the pub owner, they know eachother or something. I didn't see much, didn't even know anything had happened until people started freaking out. See, Angelus and Spike got into some kind of tiff and it was pretty damned heated. Growling and posturing and the like. I thought they were going to have a real fistfight or something. It was intense. And then Spike stalked away and people are screaming and pantomiming and stuff. I just figured everyone had some bad cafeteria food.

"Yeah that's the one. Pretty interesting story there because it turns out those two guys outside of the kwik stop? They were given some kind of drug in a vial. When one of the numbnuts dropped it, it turned into a gas and... well you were there right? Tell me... how would one come up with a concoction like that?"

"Two guys from the Kwik Stop? I think I've seen them around, and I remember the blonde one screaming about not being gay or something but I can't say I know them or anything.

Some random stranger gave them a vial and they took it? Wait aren't they like, drug dealers or something?

I didn't actually see any gas, just heard about it on the radio. I didn't notice anything was weird until the yelling started. Spike looked pretty pissed.

I wouldn't really know, in theory, I suppose there are any number of gases or liquids that would turn into gases after being released from their container. Would you like my help in the investigation? I can't say I'd be much but I'd like to do anything I can. I mean, if the election had gone differently I might be on student Council with you and we'd be working together anyway.

Though, if you want like, real work done on this gas thing, I'd definately suggest talking to either Professor Grissom or Professor Sidle. It really seems like their thing more than anyone else I know.

"Oh... I've been in contact with Grissom and I have a friend checking in with Sidle. Right know I'm trying to build a profile of who could have made such a thing. You know. Someone with the knowledge. Access to a lab and chemicals. Has the chemical know how and ability to synthesize such a thing. Do you know anyone who has that ability? Maybe a student or a teacher? Heck, maybe someone in the science club."

"Well, Science Club is pretty diverse. Some of us excel at computer science while others are more adept at the physical or biological sciences. Still others do reasonably well in many different diciplines. As to the lab and the chemicals, just about anyone could have gotten into a lab or gotten ahold of certain chemicals.

After Professor Grissom works his magic and you discover the composition of the gas you might be able to narrow down who had access to those specific chemicals."

Marty smiles. "Kind of hard to do that when there's no evidence to be found. Bar was cleaned up and everything went out in the trash the very next day. So... nothing really to analyze."

"Tell me something Crane. What kind of experience do you have with a chemical like that?"

"Me? None really, I mean, I get good marks in Biology but this is pretty advanced stuff, way beyond the capacity of some one like me. This is graduate level work for sure, it's not something you learn messing around in science club."

"Really? I think you're selling yourself short. In fact I'm pretty sure you are."

"Well that's flattering but it really is beyond me. I'd say it was likely beyond any student here but with Fandom High, you can never really tell.

Marty smiles. "That's not what some of your fellow classmates think, but if you want to be modest that's something I can totally respect. Just out curiousity, do you know Callisto at all?"

Of course, she's organizing the JA fashion show. She might even be becoming a member, who knows. She seems pretty keen on getting me on the catwalk either way.

"With Angelus..." Lisa looks a bit lost, but then tosses back her shoulders. "That's a great idea. When you talk to him let me know, Veronica is making me back for it anyway," she pauses. "Don't ask. I'll make an announcement, absolutely."

"And as for your bot, I am so ready. This time, there will be only one champion, and that person's name is Lisa Cuddy."

"Great, I'll let Angelus know. What, did Veronica have you cooking for her? I haven't met this Veronica Mars yet, but I definately think I like her.

Pfft, you got lucky last time. It was pure luck. Bring it Cuddy"

"Well, considering last time our bots were both destroyed, I say that's a draw. This time, mine is rolling out the WINNAH, baby."

Allie enters the Science Club meeting. She's not too concerned about the project for the week, she really just wants a few minutes to talk to Lisa.

"Hey, Lisa," she says. "Do you have a minute?"

"Sure, what's on your mind?"

Allie walks to a private corner of the room. "I'm thinking about quitting the clinic," she confides quietly.

Lisa looks mildly stunned and concerned. "Did something happen?" she questions Allie tentatively.

"No, not really. I just think I took on too much," she says. A faint blush colors her cheeks. "I didn't take into account... um... having a social life when I applied for the job."

"I think..." she pauses, and smiles at Allie's blush. "That we are both too young to be freaking about about our resumes. We have all of college and med school to figure this stuff out. Concentrate on your classes, and save some time for Logan. Whatever you decide to do, I think you'll have made the right decision."

Allie's blush goes a little deeper at Lisa's mention of Logan, but she smiles.

"Thanks, Lisa. I signed up for that peer mediator program and I think that is more my style at this point. It's not like I won't get enough clinic hours in med school, right?"

"Exactly. I'd offer to go with you, but for personal reasons...

Talk to Wilson. He's the more understanding of the two." She says, hoping Allie will read between the lines and avoid any undue anguish House would throw her way. "Let me know if you need anything. Good luck."

Jessica comes in and promptly makes a mess. She sneaks out, hoping no one notices.
