Dealing With Loss [Friday, October 1, after classes]

When the students came into the room, they would see Ben and Anakin talking quietly with an older blond man who resembled them both rather closely.

Ben turned around and smiled at the assembled group. "Hey. I'm betting the next few days might be pretty tough on a lot of you," he began, "which is why I want you all to meet my dad." He waved his hand towards the older man. "This is Luke Skywalker, the Grand Master of the Jedi and, even if this totally blows all of my teenaged disdain out the airlock, a pretty astral listener."

Luke gave his son a slightly bemused look. "Thank you, Ben."

Ben ran his hands through his hair. "So, yeah. I don't want any of you to feel alone on this weekend where we kind of get beat over the head with family time." He smiled. "So you can borrow my dad." He looked around at the rest of the students. "Anyone got something they need to talk about?"

"And lo, there was ice cream," Karla snarked to no one in particular. Sure, there was food at the picnic, but why should that prevent her from eating now. "I was all over shocked and surprised."

Luke smiled over at her, pleased to see a familiar face. "It's almost as if Ben enjoys it or something."

"See, he just keeps trying to convince me that it's part of the Jedi code or something," Karla teased. "'The Force is part of everything, wear cool boots, eat all the ice cream.' Hello, sir. It's good to see you again."

"And you too, Karla," Luke replied. "I'd ask if you've been keeping out of trouble, but since you're friends with Ben, I'm afraid of that answer if you say no." He grinned, looking very much like his son for a second. "You haven't gotten any ill-advised tattoos lately, have you?"

William had rather tentatively taken a smallish bowl of ice cream and was sitting quietly as he watched the interplay between the three Skywalkers.

"Thank you," William said, a bit awkwardly. "For... arranging this, and all."

Well, pizza and maybe then some ice cream.

Cloud would just awkward and keep it quiet. He was still half unsure of what he was doing there; sure, he had lost people dear for him, but he was dealing with it, right? Right.

Maybe more ice cream than pizza...

It was obviously Cloud's fault; nobody stayed at one place for nearly a year and still counted as an unfamiliar face- nobody but him.

"Hello", answered with a little wave, since he was not going to drop the ice cream, no sir. "This is...an interesting club", added, trying to figure just what had he tried to imply. "Too bad all the people arriving will be time consuming- well, not actually bad." There he was, contradicting himself. "But it probably puts some emphasis to the loss for some of us." And he was including himself there.

Dru had gotten a note from the office telling her to go to this room at this particular time. Her muttered "Oh hell no," was probably too soft to hear, but the expression on her face would be pretty clear.

Hopefully no one tried to make her talk.

After reminding herself that it wasn't Ben's fault that she was there, Dru ventured a small smile. "I suppose I could be talked into having some ice cream."

Elphaba wasn't feeling so hungry, so she simply sat off to the side and was quiet.

She was feeling just a little awkward.

Elphaba returned the little smile. "It's very generous of you to offer your father to those of us who have no one visiting," she said. "My own could not or... chose not to come."

Lion-o was there, though he was questioning his reasons for signing up in the first place. It's not like it bothered him that he had no one visiting for Parents Weekend. At least, that's what he was going to continue telling himself as he stuffed himself with pizza.

"Pizza is always good," said Lion-o, feeling just a little cautious. He wasn't used to seeing other kids actually enthusiastic about talking to him.

Anakin was there too, grateful for a club that didn't seem to require him to be gleeful.

He hadn't formed an opinion yet on the oldest version of his son.

And Luke was there three, more than a little worried that a club this specific needed to be provided to the students here. He would certainly be willing to help anyone out if this weekend was going to be tough on them. He'd grown up an orphan--he remembered the loneliness all too clearly.
