Tracking: Urban v. Wilderness; Thursday, Period Three [ 09/30 ].

In a much better mood than last week and blissfully free of unicorns here in the Danger Shop where they were meeting (don't even get her started), Angua gave a faint grin to her class in the simulation of their usual classroom, flanked by a large handful of borrowed Troopers.

"Hope you all had a chance to think about those shortcut routes for chasing people down that we brought up last week," she said, "because this week, we're going to put them to use. We'll take a few moments to go over what you came up with, to see if anyone has any suggestions for improvements, and then we're going to give them a try. To save the citizens of the town from worrying about students chasing Troopers, we're using a replica of the village and the preserve through the Danger Shop, as you can see. The Troopers are our bad guys who are trying to escape; you get to try to catch them, either using one of your routes or, if that's not working, through the power of improvisation. Start in whichever environment you'd like, but, after you've caught a Trooper, please switch to the other so you get practise in both."

"Who knows, they might come in handy escaping unexpected relatives this weekend. If there aren't any questions, let's get to briefing and then into action."

Scully had miiiiissed this. Tracking the trooper through town, and using the route behind Caritas, she stopped to listen, hoping to corner him.

Roy tore off after his bad guy, pounding through a back alley and going up and over a building before he finally ran him down.

Sorry about those bruises, guy. At least he didn't have a spare bowstring to tie you up with?

Kurt scrambled up onto the nearest building without losing much ground, and kept to the high ground as the trooper ran through alleys and down the street. When he had caught up, Kurt leapt from the rooftop and landed on the guy's shoulders, taking him down hard.

"Score one for the fuzzy blue dude!!!"

Firekeeper decided to try the village scenario first. She and Blind Seer had plenty of experience in forest tracking, after all. It would be good to practice the more unfamiliar scenario.

At least she had something of an advantage in that she and Blind Seer could work as a team. After the Trooper took off, Firekeeper chased after him while Blind Seer darted ahead, herding him back towards her.

Bruce used both his shortcut through Caritas to the alley that he investigated last week and his parkour practice from the club this week to end up on a rooftop parallel to his trooper.

The trooper really didn't see it coming when Bruce dropped on him from two stories up. "You're armored. You'll be fine."
