Classic American Film, Thursday, Period 4

When the students arrived to class this week, they would find Ziva arguing with, of all things, a unicorn. So far, it had complimented her figure, her skill with guns, and her determination to learn English, and really, she wasn't sure if she wanted to find out where the unicorn would go from there in front of the students.

"You need to be quiet, or get out of my class. Preferably both," she said with a glare. Sure, the compliments had been nice, but she was feeling a little uncomfortable now. Looking to the students, she tried to get herself back on track. "Good afternoon. This week, we are going to look at another genre of film, those that have to do with the American justice system. 12 Bitter Gentlemen is not quite as old as the film we watched last week, but it is still older than anyone here--"

"*NEIGH* You're strong for someone so young!"

"Shush!" Ziva said sharply, trying not to grumble. "As we are watching the movie, I would like for you to think about what kind of a jury member you would be. Would you be easily swayed by the opinions of others? Would you hold to your initial convictions? Or would you not be chosen to serve on a jury at all? To be honest, I do not know if I could be impartial enough to be on a jury. We will discuss this when the film is over." Assuming their time wasn't spent keeping Ziva from killing the unicorn, of course.

While Bod settled in to watch the movie, he idly wondered if Kate's brother had seen this. It seemed like his type of thing.

Quinn was trying to watch the movie, but she was distracted by the unicorn.

"You have very pretty hair," the unicorn shared.

Quinn glared a second from sheer force of habit -- talking horses deserved to be glared at, all right? -- then: "Thank you."

"And you look like you're in excellent shape. You must exercise a lot."

"I try to take care of myself," Quinn confirmed. "People don't take you seriously if you don't look your best, right?"

The unicorn agreed and complimented Quinn again, this time for her wisdom.

This scintillating conversation would probably go on until someone shushed them.

"The officials of the court would have to be insane to allow me to serve on a jury," Jenny said.

Jenny decided she wasn't in the mood to point out that she was, in fact, older than the movie, so she settled back to watch it and try to ignore the unicorn talking about how she'd saved the world all those times. She'd just been doing her job, and she'd been smashed half the time anyway.

Sara was trying to watch the movie, honestly she was, but -- even though it would have mortified her to the depths of her soul to admit as much -- she was got a little pang of envy every time the unicorn told one of the other girls in the class how pretty they were.

She was happy enough to take the compliments about the way she carried herself and the effusive pleas for her to speak up more because it was just so enchanting to listen to, but there was still a tiny, stubborn, lingering wrinkle in that joy.

Harper settled in to watch the movie, but she was only happy to chat with the unicorn that kept complimenting her pretty hair.

"You are a good friend," said one unicorn.

Great. They were here, too.

"If you don't shut your mouth and leave me alone, I'm going to call a glue factory."

"I think I would ... try to keep an open mind?" George hazarded. "Maybe everyone else knows better than I do."

Besides, arguing made the thing take forever. If everyone else agreed, then that meant she could go home.

Probably for the best George was ineligible for jury duty.

Jane tried to watch the movie, kind of. What happened was more like every time one of the freaking unicorns started complimenting her, she'd end up putting her head down on the desk like that would make it stop.

So it was hard to see the movie like that.

Joolushko rather enjoyed the unicorn's compliments on her hair. She also enjoyed the film, though it made her concerned about how easily one person could alter an entire trial here.
