The Club Fair - Gym - Friday Afternoon 9/24/10

To be perfectly honest, Blackagar wasn't sure how he ended up being in the gym this afternoon. Let alone being one of the first people there.

But that was just how life worked sometimes.

Plus, it gave him a chance to look over the new clubs first! Score for him.

"But you don't eat babies," Zack checked.

You couldn't be too sure, nowadays.

"Is that a prerequisite for joining now?" Karla asked, brow arched.

"No, but if you're going to use Illyria as a precedent, you kind of have to keep in consideration who you're talking about," Zack noted, putting his hands on his hips and frowning. "Fandom had a sorority, you know. Why don't you start that up again?"

"I don't think her baby-eating practices came up at any of the meetings," Karla pointed out. "Why should we have gendered clubs for just hanging out?"

Zack was now giving Karla the look.

It was not to be confused with The Look, which far more practised individuals in the ways of snark and badassery had mastered far more thoroughly than he had. But it was a fair approximation, from a puppy.

"You're saying this as the person who organizes girls-only sleepovers."

"So far, I have a 100% inclusion rate for any male who asks," Karla pointed out smugly.

"Provided they humiliate themselves with a dress and make-up," Zack pointed out, in turn. "And I didn't actually go. And it took me three days to get the eyeliner off."

Zack didn't really do smug, either. But there was sort of like an approximation of that going on here, as well.

"Humiliate yourself?" Karla scoffed. "Please. Like you couldn't have pulled that look off if you really wanted to. And if you think wearing makeup is hard for one night, imagine how hard it must be when you're expected to wear it all the time."

Not that Karla did. She was a strict 'formals and parties' kind of girl.

"But if you wish to insist I only wear male's clothing when I attend the meeting, I can agree to that."

She had a boyfriend with a closet full of shirts that didn't really fit right, still. Surely he wouldn't be opposed to donating some of them to a good cause!

"That's not... really my point, Karla. The frat is about guys just sitting around and doing... obnoxious guy things. Farting contests and stuff."

At least, that was Zack's understanding of it. He was a member of SOLDIER. That on its own was a bit of a sausage-fest, too.

"So why not start a club about how difficult it is being a girl? Because I don't doubt it is a pain, but we're... sort of not it."

"I don't want to start a club about how difficult it is to be a female sometimes," Karla retorted. "Thank you, I have my moontime as all the reminder I really need. Maybe I was to join your frat for the same reason you wanted to attend my slumber parties."

Give Zack a moment to parse that one, please.

"You want to see girls in pyjamas hitting one another with pillows?"

Zack was nothing, if not honest.

Karla was also going to need a moment to process that.

"...That was the whole reason you wanted to crash the slumber party? Pillow-fights?! I thought you were trying to make a statement about unfair discrimination in friendships!"

"... I'm a guy," Zack pointed out. As if this explained everything.

Ever.

"Interested in pillow fights?"

"Interested in girls?"

In pyjamas! Jumping around! Hitting one another! With pillows!

It was the promised land!

"So, the whole time you were talking about it being unfair for males to be excluded, it was because you wanted to see pillow fights."

Karla...really shouldn't be sounding this shocked.

"In pyjamas," Zack confirmed with a nod.

Really, she really, really shouldn't.

Karla frowned at Zack, shaking her head. "I honestly thought--" She cut herself off, and just sighed. "You know what. Never mind. Forget the whole thing. I don't want to join your stupid frat anyway. I'm going to go start my own club where the females spend all their time wearing bikinis while we have pillow fights and wrestle in oil, far, far, far away from where any male can see us!"

Zack kind of blinked at that, and then shrugged a little.

"That's what they do in the sorority anyhow, isn't it?"

... Zack didn't know these things. Boys weren't allowed. But he'd totally heard stories.

From other boys.

Karla wrinkled her nose. "All I know about the last sorority was that it was very, very pink. There was no way in Hell I was going anywhere near it."

"I like pink," Zack offered, because he was helpful like that. And then, on an afterthought, he added, "but you don't have to, obviously. Why not start up the sorority again in the spring, on your own terms? No pink allowed, that way!"

And no boys, either!

Zack was too busy trying to be helpful now to seem to realize that he'd managed to irk poor Karla.

Yeah, well Karla was too busy being irked to be assuaged by Zack's helpfulness. "Or maybe I'll start up a club that doesn't deny someone entrance simply because of gender," she retorted, ignoring her oil wrestling plan of twenty seconds ago. "It'll be a fratority and everyone will be invited."

So there.

"Oooh. That's a really good idea! I'm surprised nobody's come up with that one already!"

... He was missing the point, here.

He'd probably continue to, yes. Zack had a few modes of functioning, and he'd apparently just slipped right on into 'clueless.'

It was like there was no point in arguing with him.

"Or you could be the better person and just make this a fratority," she suggested, more out of principle than any hope it would accomplish anything.

Zack gave a helpless shrug, at that.

"The paperwork's already been done," he replied. "But maybe next semester, I could help you with yours!"

Because he was so very willing to help, and all!
