Open Sociology Lab 10/25

Grissom opens the lab a little late, which is unlike him. He's got a bottle of water and looks a little sick.

Some of his students seem to be interested in toxicology, so he puts up a presentation on using an immunoassay (biochem testing) - making a wide variety of materials and equipment available for simple tests, including this interesting test case for the students to perform if they wish.

He also has a display of these examples.

"No, I have not," he grimaces. "Too bad you're not still packing your service weapon. Might be time to take me out back."

*She snorts.* Something tells me you're nowhere near ready to be put out to pasture. *Comes in and in a blatant violation of personal space, lays her hand on his forehead.*

You're still running a low-grade fever. Have you taken anything?

He looks up at her with a smirk. "Yes, ma'am. I even went to the clinic yesterday, had some tests run, and got rehydrated. So that they can tell me it is a virus and there is nothing they can do." He shifts in his seat uncomfortably, like his stomach might be bothering him still. "Don't worry, I won't vomit on you."

This seems so familiar. Didn't you say that after the Perkins' case, which you insisted on working while fighting the flu? *a sarcastic smirk*

At the very least, don't stay here all afternoon. Exhausting yourself will only make it worse.

"Oh, is that a phone I hear? Oh, it's for you, they're asking the pot. It's the kettle.

I have midterms coming up, and I had to cancel classes last week due to illness. I'll be fine," he brushes off the line of questioning. "How was court, by the way?"

*She sighs, shaking her head.* Sometimes I wonder how attornies ever make it through college, much less law school. One kept asking whether or not it was possible for the vic in question to still be living when we approached the scene. Considering we found various parts of his person scattered over a half a mile, wouldn't you think that unlikely?

"Yeah, even in Fandom I think that qualifies as deceased. Was that one of your cannibal cases? You know, I'm a little disturbed by the way you attract them so often," he jokes light-heartedly.

It was the pig so much as the smell. And the smell so much as the gigantic black flies. No thanks, I'll be content with my tofu.

"The flies are just a natural part of... you don't care at all, and more than that, you've heard this speech before." He bends in his seat slightly with a slight bout of pain, but tries to ignore it. "Tofu, one delicacy I have never given proper time to," he sarcastically replies. "I try not to eat anything that comes in a white blob."

I could always make some at some point. *Said casually, her face looking concerned.* Need any painkillers?

"No, thank you. To the painkillers, they make me... too easily open to suggestion, and drowsy. I have a lot of work to do for my classes. If you can somehow convince me to eat tofu, however, I'd like to see your attempt." He gave her a weak, reassuring smile.

Get over this virus first--I won't unleash it on an unprepared digestive system. *still looking concerned*
