Angua had made sure to save all of her breathing for before class started and reminded herself that she had to just go in there, choke it down, and talk for maybe ten minutes and then that would be it. She wouldn't think about there was a full moon today and, as a result, she felt incredibly carnal and wolfish and hairy and irritated in human skin and a big giant laundry list of other unpleasant things that was only going to get worse in a room filled with able-bodied youth and a handful of bloody vampires.

"Hokay," she said, since she was trying to not make it obvious she was uncomfortable with class today. "Real short class today, you guys, because I want you to get out there and get working on this today, although you have all week to finish it. You'll all find on your desks a map of the island, including streets and paths in the Preserve. One of the key things about being able to track in an urban environment is to understand the typical escape routes or other roads something you're tracking might be taking, just as, when tracking in the woods, knowing where the deer trails or other indications of frequent movement, can be useful in finding sources of water or prey. So I want you all to take a map and, though the course of the week, figure out at least three different urban paths and three different wilderness ones that could be useful to know. Is there a shortcut, perhaps, behind Caritas that could lead you to interrupting someone's escape? A particular spot that it's easier to get on the roofs and take the higher ground? A deceptively thick thicket perfect for setting a trap? That sort of thing."

"And that's all I really have for you today. Go ahead and head on out to check out some possibilities, or just go home for the rest of the hour. It doesn't really matter as long as it's finished by next week and we'll talk about this in more depth then."

And the sooner they left, the sooner she could breathe again.

There isn't much, but if there are questions, Angua will field them as best she can without thinking of tearing out your throat with her teeth.

Cara shrugged and started looking over her map, the level of detail was going to spoil her for when she got back to the Midlands.

Scully decided she might as well combine this with her planning for the marathon, and work out a route that was an escape, that she could regularly run.

Ben wondered if it would be cheating to revisit the many versions of the maps he'd made for Arthur during reserve meetings.

Was that a cheerful grin on Jason's face. It just might have been, considering how cool he found this assignment.

If it had been a full class, Bruce would have marked his paths before the end of the period. He had researched this already, yes. He was particularly fond of the shortcut through the Firehouse so he could get to the Gig and steal a horse for the pursuit.

Kurt peered at the map, trying to think like... well, like someone who needed a map. Getting AWAY wasn't a problem for him -- he was in the class to learn how to FOLLOW someone. But, he was realizing, it would help to follow someone if you could guess where they were going.

Maybe you'll just want them to verify that, yes, the teacher did say get out of the classroom after only a few minutes of actual class.

Jake wasn't the classic kind of werewolf, he was aware of the moon at some level, but it was more of an afterthought than anything else. So it took him a while to catch up and figure out what was going on.

Unless you come bearing a chicken, she hopes you'll make it quick.

It was curiosity that made Jake linger a while longer than the other students.

"What does it feel like?" he asked, finding his question obvious enough.

Really, there were no words to describe it. Luckily, if Jacob contained even half of the awareness he should as a werewolf, words wouldn't be necessary. It would all be there in the hard look that flashed in her eyes, the look that, while her body was entirely human right now, was anything but.

Then she shook her head as if shaking that away. "I really shouldn't have even held class today," she muttered.

"I don't know, I think you just made yourself popular letting us all off early," he said with a half grin, trying something at being reassuring.

It was that or an offer to go running, and he wasn't sure exactly if he was allowed to suggest that to a teacher. Even if it suddenly felt even more tempting, because he missed his pack as much as he was glad for his privacy.

Angua knew what Jacob was trying to do, and she knew that it was only going irritate her even more. She closed her eyes a moment, as if that would help with anything and rubbed her forehead with one hand. "Because, yes, that's what matters to me right now, being popular."

Who knew that would be a side effect of trying to avoid eating anyone?

He sobered up and shook his head. "That's not what I meant," he said with a shrug. "We can cover next time."

I know it makes for a crappy class, but I KIND OF LOVE THAT CLASS FELL ON A FULL MOON I DON'T EVEN CARE.
