Good morning, all. Class registration is still open until the end of today, I believe, but make up your minds quickly, please. We'll have our first vocabulary quizzes on Monday.

Also start thinking about your first in-class presentations, as we'll want to start those by the end of the month. Anything cultural or historical relating to the languages you're studying is a good subject. Plan to speak for approximately ten minutes. Visuals are encouraged. If you need a projector or VCR let me know in advance so I can arrange with A/V.

I'll pass around a sign-up sheet for you to list your presentation subjects next week. If you want to team up with someone, please see me first.

Indo-European is a theoretical language, meaning that it was retro-developed given commonalities between words for the same things in various known languages. For example, the word for 'father' has similar sounds: 'Vater', 'Pater', and so on . . .

Rory strolls in, clearly in a great mood, and helps herself to a large cup of black coffee. She grns while picking up a worksheet, and plops down in a seat, looking over it and sipping her coffee.

Anders comes jogging in with a notepad in hand and a pencil between his teeth, and stops to pick up some orange juice before taking a seat.

Wow, check out the fancy coffee machine. Doughnuts and juice in class? Best prof ever.

Today, it's the darker haired twin who stumbles in first.

A few doses of coffee later, he's seated in the same spot as last class. Took two cups with him - one he's drinking from, the other set on the desk beside him.

Phoebe enters slowly. Her face lights up at the smell of coffee, but she grabs juice and a doughnut, then finds herself a seat.

Thomasina enters the room quietly, reverently pours herself a glass of orange juice and settles into a seat to sip at it while she waits for class to begin. Nobody's shown up who she really knows, so she doesn't feel inclined to break the early morning silence in an effort to become acquainted with anybody new.

Evelyn grabs herself a large cup of coffee and makes her way to one of the empty desks. She pulls out her notebook and starts taking notes as Dream speaks.

He slouches in the seat beside Murphy, and takes a sip of the coffee before looking at his brother. "Thanks."

Michael enters the room quietly. He looks at the coffee for a moment then takes a worksheet and goes to sit down. He nods to Rory and then gets to work.

Jubilee's eyes widen, vaguely remembering not being allowed anywhere near cups of caffeine this pure at her old school after that time she stayed up for forty-seven hours straight.

Shrugging, she takes a large cup of coffee and a worksheet and heads over to sit next to Rory.

Radek shuffles in and immediately attacks the coffee and doughnuts. He takes his seat, mouth full of doughnut, and tries to look like he's not half-dead.
