Tracking: Urban v. Wilderness; Thursday, Period Three [ 09/02 ].

Well. This was it, she supposed. Time to teach her...class.

The thought was still weird, okay? But Angua was there, at the front of the classroom, ready to address her...students. She was dressed no differently than if this had been a regular station shift or street beat, in her thankfully modified Watch armour with the badge at her collar, looking over them and trying to exude an air of confidence. But gods, there were a lot of them. And she couldn't even really smell them all yet because the stench of vampire overrode almost everything else.

"Welcome to Tracking, Urban versus Wilderness Environments," seemed a good place to start. "As the title of the class indicated, we will be exploring a variety of different methods of tracking and learning how to apply them to an urban setting as well as the more traditional uses in the wild. I am Sergeant Angua, of the Fandom Troopers, so, as you can guess, this class will be taking on a certain crime-fighting bent, although I promise. No capes or funny outfits."

See? See that? It was a smile. Sort of. A bit toothy, but that couldn't be helped. At least she made the attempt.

"Now, today we're in the classroom, but we won't always be, don't worry. Once I get you all copies of the syllabus, it will indicate where we will meet. Until then, just assume its the classroom. Today's actually going to be easy; I'm fairly certain I don't know most of you, which, in my line of work, is probably a good thing. So, as sick of them as you may be getting, I'd appreciate going through the introduction drills. I'd like to know your name, age where applicable, your interest in the class, and what experience you have in tracking and in what sort of environments, so I know where we'll all stand in future classes."

"And once Introductions are finished, I'll have a little activity to get us started that should hopefully be fun." And not at all translate into something she'd whipped up out of no where in a panic about not having any clue how to stretch introductions to fit into one hour.

"Also," excuse her while she paused a moment before actually saying the name, "Maladicta? Jacob? It looks like you two are my assistants for the class, so I'd like a moment afterwards."

Actually, it was just Maladicta, but Angua was going to be damned if she was going to have a vampire for an assistant without backup.

"And I suppose if anyone needs anything and I'm busy, they're the ones to go to. Any other questions before we begin?"

[[ Wait for the OCD or get bitten, my friend has had its distemper shots, so it's good to go! ]]

Makita didn't have an extra-sensory nose, or anything like that, but she'd spent the last three years scavenging. Even after all this time in Fandom, she had a nose for food.

She'd actually already pocketed it, discreetly, and so leaned back in her chair with a smile. She'd help, if someone asked and they didn't mind SP, but she was going to enjoy her well-earned lazy period.

Compared to your average wolf, Firekeeper was nose-dead. Compared to your average human, her senses were incredibly sharp. And that wasn't even taking in to account Blind Seer's nose. With the assignment announced, Firekeeper knew she had permission to do so, and snagged the bag of trail mix from her desk. It really was too bad she couldn't read the note, she probably would have thought it funny.

It'd actually taken Jake a moment to smell the food, thanks to the whole leech stink hanging in the air. Still, he'd figured it out soon enough and grabbed the pack from his pack and started eating.

Ben's nose wasn't as highly attuned as some of his fellow students, but he was pretty great at observation. So when he saw where they were finding their trail mix, he looked in his desk as well.

It wasn't cheating, it was learning from his surroundings! Mostly.

And he found the note very funny.

It took Zack a bit of time to clue in to the fact that the other kids seemed to be pulling their trail mix from their desks, yeah. He was... possibly not the greatest at observation, when it came to activities like this one.

But he'd found it eventually! By kind of cheating and seeing what the other kids were doing! That counted, right?

Kurt looked in his desk first -- he hadn't expected to find the trail mix there, but it was a good place to start.

His triumphant cry of "AHA!" may have tipped other people off.

Scully had looked around for a minute, then realized everyone was finding them in the desks, so checked her own, and pulled out the mix with a snort.

Roy checked his desk first, just in case, and sure enough, there was the trail mix. Mmm, delicious trail mix.

And there was a bit of trail mix landing on his desk from Scully's.

"So have you heard we're evil?" Scully checked.

"Evil?" Roy asked. "We?"

"Redheads," Scully said matter-of-factly, crunching on some Chex. "Professor Farnsworth has lectured on how we're secretly trying to destroy people. In class."

"Huh," Roy said. "Wish someone had let me in on the plan."

"Oh, we're here to suck out everyone's souls," Scully informed him. "With our sexiness. Apparently."

Trying very hard not to snicker.
exspeedydotcom: (heck yeah I rule)

"Well, obviously," Roy agreed. "Any secret plan would have to involve our sexiness."

"The shorter ones of us are more evil, but sunlight can destroy us," Scully added, fighting off another smirk. "Sort of like vampires."

It definitely was the case for Scully, though. "I just thought I should warn you that Professor Farnsworth, at least, is on to us. And he'll be looking to break up any Public Displays of Affection in the interests of ... well, not ruining his view. Apparently."

Bruce was quick on the uptake. The instant people started going into their desks, he followed suit.

He had trail mix pretty quickly.

After watching her classmates, Cara wondered if maybe the trail mix in the desk would hold true for her as well. She was terribly surprised it did, really.

She didn't find the note particularly amusing, but was willing to focus on the free food aspect of it all.

It took Alice all of twenty seconds to find the food -- having had a similar problem as Jacob in terms of smells interfering -- and then she pouted at it as she took the bag from her desk.

And contemplated giving it to somebody else.
