Around the World in 15 Weeks [Monday, Period Three]

Bond's class had received notice to meet in the Danger Shop, which was currently set up as a classroom with a large map of the world dominating one wall. Once the class had finished arriving, Bond began to speak. "Good morning, class, and welcome to Around the World in Fifteen Weeks. For those of you who are new or who haven't taken one of my classes before, I'm Professor Bond." He nodded in Kyle's direction ~~if he was there~~. "Mr Reese is my TA, and more than capable of handling any problems you don't feel comfortable approaching me with."

"Now to talk briefly about the class, as the name suggests, each week we'll be using Danger Shop simulations to look at various cultures, touching on both their pasts and their presents."

He paused briefly. "One thing I would like you to keep in mind, even though classes will be held here, is that when people from two or more cultures interact, misunderstandings and incidents can happen regardless of how hard either side tries to avoid it. These incidents can also very quickly spiral out of control." Especially when your reasons for being in a country involved intelligence work. "And, to pick a random example, very few cultures take kindly to a foreign national blowing up one of their embassies, even if they didn't actually intend to when they entered it." Not that he'd know anything about that.

"But more on that next week, as this week we'll be focusing on introductions." Bond pointed to a random student. "Name, class, where you're from, and one place on Earth you would like to visit before you die."

Something about Professor Bond commanded Tara's respect. She listened closely, not writing much down but committing almost everything he said to memory.

Bod didn't think any notes were required for the first class but his mind was already spinning, thinking of which place in the world he'd like to visit.

Zatanna was taking notes on this one, specially the bit about destroying and embassy.

What? It sounded like someone had had a fair amount of fun doing that.

Of course, Alexander knew that it was incredibly unlikely that this class would help him uncover anything new about the Land of the Green Isles, but he was still pretty excited. It sounded like it could be a pretty fun endeavor, even if it proved fruitless from the start.

Name, class, where you're from, and one place on Earth you would like to visit before you die.

"I'm Tara," Tara began, speaking a bit softly and slowly but without her stammer. "I'm a junior, and I'm from a tiny town in northern California. One place I'd like to visit..."

She considered it. "Stonehenge in England, I think. There's just so much history there."

"Welcome to the class, Tara," Bond said. "The Salisbury area has long history indeed.

"I'm Nobody Owens and I'm year eleven. A junior, I mean," he corrected quickly. "I'm from England. Specifically, I'm from a graveyard in England. I was raised there. I think I'd like visit Rio de Janeiro to see the Carnival. I've read about it and seen pictures but I don't think that would compare to seeing it with my own eyes.

Bond nodded ~~as his player resisted the urge to quote Peter Allen lyrics~~. "Good to have you in the class again, Mr Owens." By now he was quite sanguine about some of the places his students where from.

"Hi! I'm Robin, from the Everglades in Florida. And I'd like to visit Scotland."

"Anywhere in particular?" Bond asked. "While not as huge as the United States, it is a decently large country."

"Well I've always wanted to meet Nessie."

""I'm Prince Alexander," said Alexander, "and I am a junior from a kingdom called Daventry." He smiled faintly. "No one here had heard of it before; it's on an entirely different world, I understand. But I have spent a lot of time studying Earth and its different lands and I think that, one day, I should greatly enjoy visiting Greece, or perhaps Egypt, or maybe India...They sound very interesting and rich in history and unique traditions."

"I'm sure we'll manage at least one of the three in this class," Bond said. "But all of them are worth visiting in person if you're able to manage it."

"Oh, I should hope that one day I will," Alexander admitted with a nod. "I have a great fondness for travel, and plan to do much of it in years to come. Especially since now I realize just how vast all the different worlds out there may be!"

"I'm Karla, I'm a sophomore, and I'm from the Territory Glacia in the Realm Kaeleer," Karla said, thinking of all the places she'd been on earth already. Some, like Catalan, she'd love to visit again. Others, like Sookie's Louisiana, she'd be okay with ignoring. "I'd like to see Iceland, I think. It sounds a lot like my home."

"And remarkably free of ice," Bond commented. "Which is an interesting story in and of itself."

"I'm Ellie Bartowski, I'm a senior, and I'm from Encino, California," Ellie said when it was her turn. "One place I think I'd like to visit is Italy, specifically Tuscany. It looks so beautiful in pictures, plus it has an artistic legacy."

"And also a scientific one," Bond said. "But it is indeed a beautiful region."

"I'm Zatanna, from San Francisco. Ah, is it freshman?" Blame the fact she had been mostly homescholed. Mostly meaning she had been barely schooled in many ways -her father would object, of course-.

And Zatanna was going to grin widely because she had seen a good deal of the world already. "The Himalayas sound like an awesome place to visit."

"If you enjoy mountaineering." Which Bond did.

"Kyle Reese, Senior," he said for the benefit of the class rather than Mr. Bond. "I'm from the LA area. I'd like to see it like it is now."

"I'm told the air pollution makes for interesting sunsets," Bond said, smiling.

"My name is Helen Haras-Uquara. I am a senior and I am from ~~an unnamed other world~~. I... Perhaps the pyramids would be nice to see."

Bond nodded in Alexander's direction. "I believe you're not the only one in this class who's enjoy that," he said.

She nodded. "The desert would remind me a bit of home, I think."

He's here for you.

Kyle was here and raised his hand when Mr. Bond introduced him to signal who he was.

Going to bed soonish, but should be online again around 6PM EST-ish.
