BWI Airport | Portalocity Lounge | Saturday Morning | August 28

In most instances, no one would bat an eye at seeing a boy and his dog. In this instance, some people might actually run away screaming at the sight of this boy and this dog. Percy Jackson didn’t look all that intimidating on his own. He was average height, dark haired and carried a ball point pen in the pocket of his jeans.

Of course, the huge hellhound sitting behind Percy might have turned a few heads if not for the Mist. Thankfully, most mortals didn’t see Mrs. O’ Leary, Percy’s inherited hellhound sitting lazily in the BWI airport lounge (how the hellhound had fit, Percy didn’t know).

Percy himself didn’t look as relaxed as his dog. His eyes were jumping left to right, almost as if he expected something to attack him or for Luke to emerge from the crowd with that more smirk than smile look on his face.

This was about the fourteenth school Percy had been to since age twelve. He didn’t expect it to last. He wanted to be at Camp Half Blood. Instead, he was waiting in an airport lounge for a shuttle to cart him and his hellhound to a place called Fandom.

Percy frowned. He didn’t think this day could get worse.

[Open shuttle bus! Mrs. O’ Leary is a big ole hellhound that most mortals probably would not see because of something called the Mist. If you’re not exactly all the way mortal, you’d see her though. She’s not going to attack anyone, I promise.]

"Perhaps someone else here has?" William offered, his tone kind. "I've only just arrived in the States myself, and I'm afraid I was hardly the well-travelled sort before this."

"The...States?" A planetary system, perhaps? Though if so it was one she didn't know. (And whose accent she came nowhere near sharing, if the other boy she'd spoken to was a native of the place.)

"United States of America," William said, with a slight roll of the eyes. "A bit of a misnomer, really, since the Americas are two entire continents and the one nation hardly spans all of it."

United States of... She knew that name, even though it was ancient history, and that history wasn't her own. There was a reason Cally's instructors thought she needed to be studying Auronar civics instead of Thoughtful Rebellion: Political Dissidence Through The Ages.

"We're on Earth?" She was light-years from home, then, in the very heart of the Federation.

Oh dear. William was quite sure by now this girl was a bit... off. "Yes," he said slowly. "Where else would we be?"

What had Father O'Brian gotten him into?
onlymistaken: (telepathy - zoning out)

Cally just blinked shockily for a moment, sending out another useless //Zelda...// -- though now she knew why it was useless. "I... I should be on the other side of the galaxy."

What did one say to that? "I'm very sorry to hear that." Apparently, that.

"I must get home." Somehow. Without her own transport (which wouldn't have carried her further than the edge of Earth's solar system if she had it) or anything like Federation credits to her name. Pull it together, Cally.

She blinked hard, chasing away anything that might have resembled tears, and asked the boy, "Where is this shuttle meant to be going?" Perhaps it would get her closer, at least, and if they thought she belonged here, she mightn't have to buy a ticket.
