The Five Senses | Friday | Period 1

It was the last class of the term and Fraser was standing up at the front of the classroom, smiling with his hands clasped behind his back.

"Good morning," he greeted with a nod. "Welcome to the last class of the term. I thank you for letting me teach you this semester and I hope you enjoyed the last. For the last activity of the semester, I'd like you all to pick one sense that you could live without and why. Please provide reasons on why you would live without this sense. Think carefully though. Each sense has important uses in the everyday world."

Fraser nodded and stepped back towards the desk. "You have the whole time but you may go when you're done. Thank you again."

Firekeeper couldn't write, of course, so instead she waited until Fraser looked as if he could be interrupted and spoke (quietly enough so as to not disturb anyone still writing).

"I could, perhaps, live without hearing," she acknowledged. "It would be difficult, but being able to scent the presence of a creature or see the movement in the forest could make up for not hearing it." A wolf without a sense of smell or sight was as good as dead, though, something she acknowledged with a quick skritch behind Blind Seer's ears.

Fraser nodded at the reasoning, agreeing with that. "Would you miss being able to hear, do you think?"

"Music is one of the best things I have found in the human world," Firekeeper acknowledged with a small smile. "So to have and then lose it would be upsetting. But were I born with no hearing... I do not think one can miss what was never had."
