Battlefield Tactics, Thursday

The students would find the Danger Shop to be a rather inhospitable place today. It was covered in large rocky formations, lava pouring down onto the ground here and there. It stretched on for miles, some parts oddly mazelike, some spread open wide like the plains.

And at the front, as always, there was Kerrigan, her head cocked in a fashion that was oddly inhuman.

"We've had too little time together to really put a dent in your skulls," she drawled, dryly. "But, as they say, the best practice comes from going up against a real opponent. Oh, you'll find brainless enemies - with guns - roaming around this world, but they won't be your real problem. This... is a free for all. Any natural advantages you've got? Use them. Think it's not fair? There's no such thing as a level playing field in reality."

She stretched out one arm and pointed towards a rack of guns. "Same rules apply," she said, sounding... amused. "You get shot anywhere lethal, this thing lights up. Take enough non-lethal shots, and you're out of the game. Your job is to take out as many of your classmates as you can--but only gun hits count. I don't want to see any of you mortally wounding anyone; Danger Shop safeties are on. You've got five minutes to set up. Spread out."

Karla chewed on her lower lip. She didn't like this. She didn't like it at all. She had friends in this class. Even if it was only a game...well, she didn't like it.

Oh, good; dodging getting shot at and shooting at people. The giant gaping hole in her training, and the thing Kennedy wasn't mentally all that okay with. (The shooting-people part, that was.)

Juuuuuuuust what she'd needed today. Thank god it was her last final for the term.

...let's not even discuss how much it made her bitchface that people who actually fucking had powers got to use them. Rub it in, god.

Zack furrowed his eyebrows a little at Kerrigan's addendum, there. He wasn't worried about other people using powers on him, but all of the materia that he had slotted into his armor was ridiculously destructive. He was going to opt out of flinging spells like Thundara and Blizzara around.

Those existed to kill people.

Now... if only he was actually any good with a gun.

Ben didn't like this at all, Danger Shop or no.

There was a reason Cloud preferred swords. But, he was good enoguh with guns to do well -not as good as some people he knew...but whatever- as long as he wasn't going to have to shoot someone in the middle of the eyes.

Looking around, he realized people weren't that excited about the class' prospect; neither he was, but that didn't mean he was going to hide somewhere. He would certainly not have fun, though.

Momoko was yet another one of the class not at all excited about this. Well, maybe a little at the chance to use powers in class, but not at all about using them against her fellow students.

Karla picked up a gun, ran lightly through one of the rock formations and was gone. If she came out the other side, she did so invisibly.

Zack would have been okay with this assignment if it was just them versus the Danger Shop. Heck, if they'd been sent out on an actual mission and told to take down real people, so long as they were the enemy, he would have been all over this.

But being told to take out his classmates was something that Zack wasn't prepared to do. He'd fail the class if that was what it came down to, but he wasn't going to be doing much more than demonstrating just how good SOLDIER enhancements were when it came to avoiding lethal blows.

He ran, and he jumped, and he was halfway across the plains in no time.

Ben found a spot with decent cover and a good view of the surrounding area, then shrunk his Force-aura down to practically nothing and waited, hating everything about this.

Gun in hand, Cloud set off to get some terrain advantage. He knew some of the powers of the people in the class, namely Zack and Karla...and any of them could make his participation pretty short lived if they so wanted, one because was a powerful witch...and he couldn't just shoot Zack.

Sighing in silence, Cloud got lost in some rocky formations.

By the time the exercise had actually started, Zack had hunkered down behind a rock, and was giving his gun dirty looks.

Why couldn't they use laser swords instead? He knew what he was doing with something that he could swing around, darn it.

Oh well... There was nothing to be done but try not to get hit, he supposed.

Somewhere high, Cloud watched, and aimed. At what? He had no idea. He would just stay there awfully quiet, wondering if he should had taken some sniper training, and realizing he actually wasn't going to shoot anyone on sight if they didn't shoot first.

It was a matter of time and patience now.

...Damn, he missed his sword.
