Practical Crisis Problem Solving - Danger Shop, Tuesday, Period 3 (11am-12pm)

They were in what looked like a restaurant kitchen today and the Doctor was standing there, looking too pleased with himself for this to mean good things. "There's nothing a final will teach you that couldn't be learned in a kitchen. Working under pressure, creativity, teamwork, timing, adaptability and, yes, even making impossible decisions. You have one hour to make a three course meal for the ambassador from Shantella Prime, that judge from Masterchef with the glasses and me. It's up to you to work together to decide on a menu, use the ingredients from the pantry, figure out how to use the cooking equipment and deliver something edible. Will you cook? Will you cut? Will you take orders from others or be someone who listens and follows orders? Will you sit this one out and expect everyone else to solve the problem?" He looked at his watch. "You'd best be getting started."

Jason's skills extended to dealing with microwaves, so he was a little worried about how things would turn out. "Is there something quick we can make? Possibly not involving heat?" he asked.

"How about a salad?" Alex suggested. "Or some kind of sandwich?" She wasn't sure which would be a better option but hey, it was a start.

"I wonder if we could get away with doing a salad instead of a soup," Jason said. "Especially if the meal is something warm."

"We could mix it up a bit and do some kind of tomato salad, maybe alongside a regular salad?" She just hoped the Ambassador was a fan of tomatoes.

"If we only have an hour, The Doctor can't be looking for anything too elaborate, can he? Even if we split the meals up?" Jason said, trying to sound hopeful.

"Nah, it's not like he wants us to make Thanksgiving dinner or anything close to that," Alex said. "Something quick and easy is more like it."

"Quick and easy is more likely to taste good," Jason said. "At least, if I'm the one helping to prepare the food. I'm not much with the big cooking skills."

"Oh, definitely," Alex said. "Preparation is just as important as cooking." And wow, she just channeled her dad. That was kind of scary. "Or so I've heard."
