The workshop today was meeting in the Danger Shop, which was set up to look like a city alleyway. Standing at one end were Jake and a disheveled looking man who smelled vaguely of canned ham.

"Okay, kiddies!" Jake clapped his hands. "Last class, so we're gonna be working on something every good detective needs: a good snitch."

"'Scuse me, b'y, but I prefers the term 'information broker'," the disheveled man spoke up.

"Whatever," Jake rolled his eyes. "So here's what you know: last night at approximately 11:00pm, someone broke into the pet store and stole all the kittens." A cat burglar, yes. "Finn here happened to be standin' across the street and might've overheard a thing or two. S'your job to figure out how to gets him to tell you what that is. Good luck."

Dealing with snitches, Jake felt, wasn't really something that could be taught. It could only be learned by doing. So the little nippers were gonna get thrown to the sharks... well. Shark. Canned-meat-smelling shark.

"You were across the street, huh?" Ben asked the man. "Did you see anyone come out of the shop?"

Finn just gave Ben a calculating look. "You needs a DVD, b'y?" he asked instead of replying to the question. "I gots all kinds."

Ben shrugged. "Have anything with cats?" he asked.

"Yeah, course I got cats," Finn scoffed. "what d'ye takes me for?" he dug a brown-paper-wrapped DVD sized packet from his jacket pocket. "twenty bucks."

There were very few things Ben wanted less than a movie about cats. "Five," he countered, "and you also tell me how many people you saw last night coming out of the store."

Finn disagreed; Ben absolutely needed a movie about cats. "Kids these days," he tsked. "No respect for their elders. Fifteen."

"Ten," Ben replied, "and I won't run all over your lawn with my loud music."

"Ten'll do," Finn decided with a nod, holding out his hand expectantly.

Bruce approached Finn with a determined look on his face. "What did you see last night at the pet store?"

"Pet store?" Finn feigned ignorance. "Weren't in no pet store last night, b'y."

Bruce held up twenty dollars. "For your sake, I hope this jogs your memory."

Finn reached over to snatch the twenty dollar bill, giving Jake a pointed look. "Like I says, weren't in no pet store. But I were standing across from it, when two shady-lookin' types comes by."

"What did they look like?" Bruce asked. "Besides 'shady-lookin.'"

"Bout yay high," Finn indicated someone a few inches shorter than himself. "Kinda guys that looks like they spend a lotta time at the gym, you know?"

Bruce pulled another ten dollars out of his pocket to sweeten the deal a little. "Did you hear them say anything?"

Finn looked at the ten dollar bill and raised an eyebrow, before rummaging through his jacket pockets and coming up with a watch. "Genuine Rolex knockoff," he informed Bruce solemnly. Which, no, was not an answer to his question.

Momoko bounced over, smiling. "Hi!" She tried not to lose her smile at the smell, now that she was closer. "I'm Momoko. What's your name?"

"Finn," whether that was a first name or a last name, he wasn't telling. "You needs a DVD?" he asked hopefully. "Only twenty bucks!"

"Hi, Fin... Twenty bucks?!" Momoko set her hands on her hips and gave him A Look. "You're kidding, right? That is totally a rip-off! I can get them for sooo much cheaper and you probably don't even have anything I even want. Especially something I want to spend that much on."

Sadly enough, Momoko was not intentionally talking in code here; she was serious.

Finn gave Momoko a wounded look. "Are you callin' me a cheat?"

Momoko rolled her eyes and nodded. She totally doubted Mr Finn had any DVD she'd want. "If you have something I'd want to spend that much money on, I'd totally like to know!"

"I'm hurt, miss, real hurt," Finn put a hand over his heart. "I got here this doc-you-mentry about penguins. Real cute."

Momoko made a face. "Documentary? No. Don't you have anything with a good story? I am totally not paying twenty dollars to learn about penguins. Especially when what I'm supposed to be learning about is kittens."

See? She remembered!

"Just 'cause it's a documentary doesn't mean it ain't got a story," Finn pointed out. "Ye don't know what you're missing."
