Battlefield Tactics, Thursday

Cracks or no cracks, Kerrigan was used to teaching even through a splitting headache. They'd been bad enough when she was actually human; with her powers unlocked, she was privately starting to consider engineering a Zergling to produce an analgesic naturally, and devouring it.

But no matter.

When they entered the Danger Shop, they would find it shaped like a large cavern, with a few loose buildings and walkways beneath. If there was anything going on outside at all, Kerrigan wasn't in the mood to acknowledge it.

"Most of our classes so far have been about stealth," she said. "We're going to up that a notch. As soon as you enter, eight violent soldiers will be entering this room. If they find you, they will fire on you. Take out every one of them without the others catching on to your location."

She let her eyes slip from person to person. "You will not have guns at your disposal," she said, "But feel free to use anything else you can call your own. Once again, when you are shot, the Danger Shop will give you a soft yellow glow. Get shot twice, and the light turns red. No, the criminals won't be able to see it, before you worry your little butts off."

She stepped back. "Begin."

Kennedy flinched as soon as Kerrigan got to 'soldiers,' since in her mind that still automatically translated to 'humans.' The idea of taking them out? Not sitting so well with her either, no.

Dru edged over to Kennedy when she got a chance.

"What would you say if I told you I woke up with a really bad feeling?" she asked quietly.

Oh, yay, welcome distraction. "I'd say I'm guessing it's not the slept-on-my-arm-funny kind of bad feeling I've woken up with two days running," Kennedy replied under her breath.

"No, more like let's take a trip to the Dakotas bad feeling. Except this time no travel is required," Dru replied. "I don't know what it is exactly. But it's bad."

"You're sure?" Kennedy asked, then winced when she realized that came out sounding more skeptical than she'd meant it to. "I mean, I haven't heard anything..."

"I'm sure," she answered firmly. Touching her hand to her throat, Dru tried to explain. "I can taste it. Here. It's the most horrible taste and I can't get rid of it. The last time it was this bad Sergej was on the other side of the door." She still had nightmares about that night.

"And you haven't changed toothpaste or anything lately." She was getting better about it, but every now and then the old habitual doubt of the mystical still stuck; still, the mention of Sergej got a sharp intake of breath out of Kennedy. "So we'll have to keep an eye out. And an ear."

"Nope, mint Crest, same as always." Unfortunately the joke didn't do much to lift Dru's spirits. "Both eyes and both ears," she said. "And if you could suddenly sprout them in the back of your head that might not be a bad thing."

Kennedy snorted. "Yeah, I'll get right on that." With her luck it'd probably be more likely than getting to be the Slayer at this rate. "Let me know if you hear anything?"

"I will. Does Tara have your cabin warded? Cause I can come by however handwavily and do it," Dru offered. At least then she'd feel like she was doing something proactive.

"Maybe?" Kennedy hadn't thought to ask. "I can check with her later. Man, I hate knowing something's up and not what," she added, and hello there, slightly bitchy tone.

Dru sighed and nodded her head in agreement. "Tell me about. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. But in the meantime check with Tara and let me know."

"On it," Kennedy answered, saluting her briefly. "We, uh, should probably shut up soon unless we want Kerrigan on our asses."

Which was not fun, even though she kind of wanted to discuss this further.

"Yeah," she agreed. "Let's not add to an already bad day."

Dru turned her attention back to Kerrigan and tried to focus on class. It was a losing battle.

Oh, man. Stealth was so not Zack's strong point, here.

Avoiding bullets and taking down violent hostiles, on the other hand...

Zack found himself idly wondering just how much leeway he was going to be able to get, here. If he only caught the attention of one or two of them at a time, he should be okay...

Cloud was starting to see his hair color as an immediate threat towards stealth.

That and using large swords to get things done was not stealthy. But, he'll take the challenge. There was no shame in not making it -actually, there was a lot of shame on that, but he was trying not to think about it-.

Dru was edgy as hell and really not in the mood for anything like class at moment. She'd woken up with the taste of rotten oranges and salt in her mouth and nothing she'd tried had been able to get rid of it.

The dark shapes and figures she'd noticed out of the corners of her eyes on the way to class? The ones that disappeared as soon as she looked at them straight on? Were not helping matters. At all.

Karla was eying the shadows warily. There had been a lot of creepy shadowy things moving about on her way to classes today and she wasn't all that fond of going into a place where there could be more.

Ben was only half-listening to the instructions. He was far too busy freaking out (well, in a repressed, Ben way) about the Force-pulse Tahiri had sent out just before she disappeared off the island.

Momoko frowned. She wondered if 'anything else you can call your own' meant she could transform?

Re: Do the Course

Was it really any surprise that Zack reached for the heaviest-looking iron bar that he could possibly find? The one with the most reach to it?

It wasn't exactly the Buster Sword, but considering how he mostly just smacked people around with the blunt side of that, too, it probably wouldn't be all that different in practise. And the surroundings were familiar enough, too. Just like any one of a hundred caverns that he'd been sent on in missions back home.

With a little grin on his lips, he set forward to beat the tar out of the enemy. That was just what Zack did.

The minute Karla entered the course, she pulled up sight and aural shields, stepping up onto the air to avoid leaving any trace behind. She ignored the broken bits and pieces on the ground--she had her own weapons--and melted into the shadows to wait for the attack.
