Infiltration and Advanced Sneakiness [Tuesday, August 3]

When the students arrived in the Danger Shop, they found themselves facing an enormous pair of glass doors guarded by Stormtroopers. Anakin, cloak sweeping the ground behind him, entered through the glass doors.

"Welcome to your next challenge," he said. "Sometimes on a mission, the only way in is through the front door, and you might need information you will just not have access to to get in." He swept his hands out to point at the door. "Like today. This is a mid-level government building. You need to get past the security on the other side of those doors, using identification you do not have. The only thing you will have is your attitude, your natural gifts of persuasion and the contents of the wardrobe room over there, which does not contain weapons." He smiled. "I found that a long cloak and a 'don't kriffing mess with me' attitude works seven times out of ten."

The other three times, he used mental persuasion, but he wasn't going to bring that up in a class with students who might not understand how Force-abilities worked.

"The security guards will be played by the TAs and myself, with varying degrees of attentiveness, just as you would have with real security guards." He gave them all a tight smile. "Let's see how you do."

Kyle decided on the direct approach. He just started walking towards his destination.

He tried to impersonate the officers he'd seen who looked like they had authority without even trying. He didn't do too well at it. "You don't need to see that," he said and tried to press on.

"Sorry to disappoint you. This is an emergency and I don't have time for this."

"I don't ask these kinds of questions. They call me for emergencies, I show up. That's how it works."

Leia strapped on her best bitch face and walked confidently toward the elevators like she owned the place.

Anemone would be the security guard who despised her job, and people who acted like they were the bee's knees, oh yes. It made up for the fact that she was rather sure Gulliver would let anyone past who fed him.

She neatly stepped in front of the elevator, hand out in a 'stop' sign. "Identification," she said, smile sweet. "Please."

"Do you have any idea who I am?" Leia said coldly. "Of course not, if you did you wouldn't be stopping me."

"If I knew who you were, you'd belong here, and you'd be glad I was securely guarding your safety. Miss." Anemone replied pleasantly. "Identification."

Leia sighed and patted her hip. She looked confused and glanced down at her side. "I just had it," she muttered, looking around at the floor.

Katniss rolled her shoulders back, doing her absolute best to look as though she belonged, of course.

Elena today had decided on being the nervous, strictly-by-the-book rookie. It went with her Turks uniform, and, well, let's just say she had plenty of experience.

She cleared her throat nervously and piped up. "Good morning!" she said. "I just need to see your identification, then we'll be all set."

Katniss raised an eyebrow skeptically. "I wasn't told I'd need to bring any identification," she said dubiously, trying to keep the other girl nervous.

"Told by who?" Elena asked, picking up her book of regulations and flipping through. "Everyone coming in needs identification. That's why we're here, to check the identification! Can't come in without it."

"Haymitch Abernathy," Katniss said with authority, as though this was a Very Important Person who Elena should clearly recognize. "Do you really want to be the one to explain to him that I missed our meeting because you refused to let me past?" She shrugged, crossing her arms. "I mean, it's your job on the line, not mine."

"I don't know Mr. Abernathy," Elena said, her eyes widening. He sounded important, and she didn't know him at all. "But they said I should check identification for everyone coming through. Can you call Mr. Abernathy?"

James knew the secret: act somewhere between someone you did not want to interrupt but not so important that you would be challenged as he marched up to --and intending to go right past--the guards.

One of these times, James would not pick the professor as an adversary. Once.

"Don't you have something better on your plate than to bother people going about their business?" James asked in a voice that was neutral.

James stopped, cold. "Really? what do you do when you get off work? Or before tucking in at night?" He tilted his head, as if wondering what a day like that might be.
