Class today was not at the usual spot by the main campfire, but rather in the Danger Shop, which was set up to look like a parking lot, complete with several cars.

"So," Jake addressed them once they'd assembled. "First off, apologies for missing last week. Something came up, and no I'm not going into any more detail. So let's get down to business ~~to defeat the Huns~~: there are plenty of reasons one might need to hotwire a car. That's not what we're here to discuss. Instead, we're here to discuss how to hotwire a car." Mostly because Jake could only think of one legitimately legal reason to have to do so, but he was sure the little nippers would have fun with this activity.

Jake had an odd definition of fun.

"There's also more than one way to hotwire a car, and while the method I'm teaching ye today isn't the easiest, it's the one that'll cause the least damage t'any car you're trying to gain control of."

He went on to explain how to hotwire a car and then gestured to the cars. "Go to it, then. Holler if ye get stuck."

In between taking notes, Harper was worrying that she hadn't dressed appropriately for this week's activity. She wondered if Jake would let her run back to the dorms to grab her steering wheel hat before she tried to hotwire the car.

Lindsay was paying attention and taking notes. This was a skill that could impress her friends back home.

Ben quickly suppressed a smile. Back home, Jedi, erm, "reappropriated" other people's transports all the time. He was good with a speeder. Learning with a car would be fun.

Go on and hotwire that car!

Ben hotwired the hell out of the car and looked entirely too pleased with himself as the engine started revving.

Momoko... Momoko couldn't figure out how to remove the key... tumble... thingie. She could PILOT almost anything, but just don't ask her to take it apart or fix it. Or, apparently, hot-wire it.

After some struggle she finally got into the tumbler but, faced with a panel full of wires and bits and bobs, couldn't remember what to do next and simply stared.

Who has no qualms about teaching teenagers these kinds of skills, no.

OMG YAY STAT HOLIDAY! Except for the part where I still have to go into work at night and spend three hours inventorying the entire store because the new owners take over this week. Augh.

But YAY for new and hopefully better owners taking over?
